Hey Bill, I mentioned this earlier but I'd like your take on it. Visnovsky has filed a grievence to nix the trade to the Islanders. Should he got back to Anaheim, would he be worth trying to acquire? Bearing in mind Snow got him for a non first round pick? I'm sure we could do better than that for a veteran puck moving D-man with some defensive issues. Especially when we got the space for his contract and if he's not going to cost us the moon like J-bo or the like.
"The already money-losing Predators' pride just got themselves into an almost impossible fiscal mess, with the situation a lock to get worse before it gets better. They made that choice by matching the offer sheet rather than seeking a reasonable trading solution with Philadelphia that would have kept Nashville at least solidly in the hunt for a playoff spot while adding draft pick assets and not tying their hands financially for at least six years to come."
I'm glad you are an expert with all things Nashville. Were are in trouble. Financially doomed. Out of the playoffs. Just call us Phoenix. Right. Now. - TNGuy04
He's not an expert, but just looking at it from a business perspective and to him it doesn't make sense. Clearly the owners would have to use their personal finance to help the franchise. And Rich people got rich because they made smart business decision not emotional ones.
yes and no. Timonen is coming off surgery and is 37 and Meszaros is coming off an injury as well. If both play like they can, they'll be fine. - flyersfan51
Kimo is a warrior...i'm sure he comes back to play one more top level season, but his minutes need to decrease. i like him on the second line with either Grossman or Schenn. Coburn needs to be the puck mover on the top line with the other.
Mezaros can also play 2nd line minutes to spot Kimmo....and Gervias is actually a good shot on the PP.
outside of the Pronger years, this definitely the best Flyers D in a bit. let's hope our 5+ million dollar man in goal is ready to bring it.

Bob Ryab! Screw Hartnell and his down, Flyers need a prophetic goal scorer! Hartnell had 37 FAKE goals which is 0 REAL goals! Ryab and Gir would combine for 100 goals! - NickTheKid87

JayBo has a NTC. I thought I remember him saying when he went to Calgary that he did not want to play in a big city market in the East. I'm not sure he would waive his NTC to come to Philly.
Reading about his strengths (solid puck mover, big minute eater, doesn't miss games) reminded me of another recently departed blue liner from Philly, Carle.
Granted J Bo is probably the better hockey player, but those strengths are similar.
Pretty sure Bill is not "The Flyers". - feelingkettle
i really enjoy reading his copy...have a lot of respect for the guy...
but this whole weber thing, from promoting the mezaros, voracek, etc. no-match trade to this, which comes off as sour grapes just doesn't suit him well
anyhow...
jordan leopold, in the orange and black this season?
Flyers need to do a deal to improve their back end. They are not nearly as strong as what they were at this time last year.
I made it to one game (in Ottawa) against the Flyers. Spezza and Karlsson dominated Giroux, Karlsson owned the ice, I think he had four points. I love Giroux since his junior days with the Piques.
My point is the problem in that particular game was not Giroux. He plays a puck possession game as does Ottawa. But, he had nobody on his back end to support him. You cannot play up tempo puck possession without Dmen with the foot speed and smarts who can support the play and get back and protect your own end.
Holmgren is going to have to do a deal. Forget about Bobby Ryan for now. His best choice right now is Yendle, second is Boyle, third is J.Bo. Without the upgrade, I suspect the Flyers risk an organizational sophomore slump and are at risk of missing the playoffs. - spatso
oh shut the (frank) up about the flyers missing the playoffs. we're not the maple leafs

Ah, good call. I somewhat remember him not wanting to come to Philly when he was traded to Calgary.
There were a bunch of Toronto media reports that Luke Schenn and Phaneuf did not like each other and that it was the cause of serious tension in the dressing room. Not a problem for the Flyers. Phaneuf had the same reputation in Calgary.
