You make it sound like Luongo could be had for a cheaper price than Bernier. I don't think that would be the case at all. - LeafsOwnHabs
I certainly do. Apparently the Frattin +2nd deal was offered and declined for Bernier...you think Luongo would cost anything close to that? |

Let's be realistic here!! - Pen15
Some people love the movie and say it is the best ever, quite a few say the trilogy (Nolan) is way overrated, You will always have that, personally, I think Bale is the 2nd worst Batman of the franchise, can't stand him. |

If Luongo could be had for Frattin and a 2nd I think the deal would have been done long ago.
Let's put it this way...if Luongo could be had for less than or equal to Frattin and a 2nd rounder Vancouver wouldn't be having any trouble getting completing a deal for Luongo. Vancouver are definitely wanting more then that in my opinion. |

I don't see it getting done, Gillis hates Burke too much to give him a deal, and Burke is to pridefull to be a hypocrite and take on Lu's contract. |

I bet that was not offered. I bet Komi or Connolol going the other way was part of it also.
Vancouver will not get better than Frattin + 2nd. |

true.
part of that can certainly be attributed that its the Kings vs the Leafs team lol - big_dion
i think both samples are too small to gauge much. in both cases, you're talking about potential, so it would be a risk. |

I personally think that he would cost more than Bernier, but given the fact that Bernier is available, people would rather pay that price for him.
The only teams that would pay the price for a goalie like Luongo are ones that are only a goalie away from being a cup competitor. The problem is that these teams don't really exist at the moment.
The only team I could have seen needing Luongo's services would have been TB, but they chose to go the Bernier route, by getting Lindback.
No team will pay the price for Luongo, because there isn't the demand from those types of teams. It's not that he isnt worth the price, he just isn't worth it to us.
And Morning All! |

I very much doubt Luongo would be had for that...there might be a Frattin within the trade, but there will also be salary coming from Toronto.
Connolly/Lomardi/Komisarek will be included Im sure. But a Frattin + 2nd for Luongo wont happen...or atleast shouldnt happen. Bernier will cost a bit more than Luongo due to his age and potential. Luongo is proven, but 33 years old and has a 10 year contract...he will cost less than Bernier, no doubt. |

This is the reason...not because Bernier SHOULD cost more, but because of the available options, he WILL cost more.

very possible.
I am thinking there is a standing, take it or leave it, offer from the Leafs that is not close to what Gillis wants.
... which is just as well. I would love to see Vancouver choke on their goalie situation. |

Adam West, George Clooney, Val Kilmer, etc....
Really?
I mean Kilmer wasn't bad as Batman, but the movie was awful. |

Oh Vancouver would have to take salary too....but they at least get Frattin and a 2nd...and then add a Connolly or Komi to offset salary.

Thing is, I agree that Luongo has value and I agree hes a better option than Bernier...but where the disconnect is between us two seems that youre not considering that Vancouver has VERY limited trading partners for Luongo where as LA has a bunch, arguably. Not much risk in Bernier, and he has potential with his age. Most teams would rather take on Bernier. |

Luongo would cost a 1st round pick. There is no way Gillis ships him off without a 1st coming back.
To us, that first is too precious and Burke wouldn't give it up (i hope). To a team that finishes in the playoffs, it would be worth it.
I personally would trade our first if it was top 10 protected. |
