Naaaah....thing is, the Flames have turned into a punching bag for this site. For whatever reason, the moment I post a new blog I have 3-4 Oilers fans who jump in with "witty" remarks, then it goes for 2 pages of Oilers vs Flames arguments

Im trying to find a middle ground...it seems some blogs provoke a lot of trash talking between the fanbases, then others will get good solid debates going about players etc...trying to figure out what angles work best to keep solid convos going....proving to be a tad difficult lol

so whats been up with you guys? Been too busy with the Calgary reading/researching etc to pay any attention to the Leafs.

Watching mapleleafs91 and Scobby argue on here is like watching 2 retards fighting in a kiddy pool of petroleum jelly

I know I read a couple of pages of it, I got the support to clean out the trolls from the admins, so it can be quickly done now in the morning.

id much rather the leafs give up someone other than Frattin.

Frattin +2nd rounder is quite a bit to give up.

burke should try to offload Mac and a salary dump...thats my 2 cents anyway.

Ah yes another morning.....and the leafs want to acquire another unproven talent.
Although the offseason is not done there is plenty of time left.....I hope to gawd this isn't the team Burke starts the season with.

The kings getting rid of Bernier could be alot like the Leafs giving up Rask........lots of potential but nothing proven. Its a solid risk for the Leafs to take.

Riemer could bounce back and become Optimus Riem again....or he could sneeze and have neck issues for 6 months.....

Scrivens could step up and make a solid contribution......or he could become a career AHL star

Bernier......with lots to prove, and being in a contract year, could just become the #1 we so desperately need.......

Franson, MacAurthor and a 5th for Bernier............I could live with that

Reimer
NHL GP71 W34 L24 OT9 MIN.3959 GA187 SA2108 GAA2.83 .911% SO6
AHL GP44 W24 L15 OT3 MIN.2561 GA104 SA1304 GAA2.44 .920% SO4

Bernier
NHL GP48 W20 L17 OT5 MIN.2691 GA112 SA1247 GAA2.50 .910% SO5
AHL GP115 W54 L46 OT11 MIN.6709 GA245 SA3351 GAA2.19 .927% SO14

For my own sake I'm not going to include OT in my %'s but just looking at these numbers we I see Reimer has won 58.6% of his NHL games and 61.5% AHL games with .911% and .920% sav %. Bernier 54% NHL 54% AHL with .910% and .927% sav%

Compared beside each other they are nearly identical with Reimer having a slightly better record. Reimers NHL sample is larger than Bernier's and Bernier's AHL sample is larger than Reimer's.

If we trade for Bernier, I am not going to be upset, but I am not expecting a #1 NHL starting goalie who can steal us games. I'm expecting the Leafs having 2 Reimers so that if 1 doesn't pan out (Pogge), then the other one will (Rask)

id like the combo of Reimer/Bernier

I think between the two of them 1 will pan out and thats what we need, a young goalie to become his own through the system, even if we trade for a young one (like bernier).

Bernier isnt a sure play for the Leafs. It risks selling assets for another unproven guy. Its going to be easier to swallow in a sense because if it dosnt work out, Bernier can be moved later, unlike Luongo. However, imo, the Leafs have a guy similar to Bernier in Reimer and they need to bring in an experienced vet...not another guy with less than 100 games of experience. Heck, less than 50 games!!

Plus, Bernier is a smaller goalie....not sure how this gels with Allaire, unless hes let go.

Problem is...youre selling some real assets to get Bernier, when you might already have similar talent in Reimer.
