Frattin and a 2nd Rounder is not alot to give up for a goalie.... and calm yourself im just stating what i saw on twitter... so relax. Do you understand there ARE NO (frank)ING CENTERMAN AVAILABLE, what dont you UNDERSTAND. And JVR as an experiment makes perfect sense for a guy that never reached his full potential and CLEARLY stated that he never got the chance to play center in philly when he was originally a center before philly so stop with the BS that he is not capable of being a centerman. - Mapleleafs_91
Why are you mad? I was calling Burke a dummy. The dude needs to get something proven at some point. I like the acquisition of JVR. I was just pointing out that it would be nice if he got a sure thing for a change. Having to try experiment after experiment is no way to run a team. Where did I say JVR couldn't play center?
Seriously, why are you so angry? Why do I need to calm down? I'm pretty stoned, chief. Couldn't be calmer. |

Luongo for Jose Theodore...... book it lol - Sheppy99
Ha Doubt it. If only because Theodore refuses to waive for Van. Doesn't want to work with Melanson again. |

Fair enough.
I do think he'll be better than Reimer/Scrivens, but he's still quite a gamble, and I know there have been attitude issues in the past. - Fosco
Not a gamble most are willing to take for a 1st.
It should also be noted that Bernier has openly asked for trades on numerous occasions. Does LA really need this kind of distraction in their dressing room after Quick has just signed his deal and their season could be a little tougher being defending champs?

I agree. Hopefully for TO fans that's not the case.
Edit: Not only the trade requests, but the whole fiasco when he wasn't named the starter for Canada in the WJCs. He's a young kid, though, and prone to momentary lapses of judgement. |

I think your wrong. He has asked for a trade once or twice. He's not the bad guy your making him out to be. The guy wants to play, no harm in that. The team loves him as far as I know. |

Bernier is a better fit for TO than Luongo, if the plan is to finish the rebuild properly.
Luongo only made sense if Burke was just trying to save his ass, and shoot for playoff spot and likely an early out.
It's a worthwhile gamble on Bernier if the price isn't too steep. - Fosco
I wonder if Canucks fans will respect Burke a little more if he goes the Bernier route for a proper rebuild and not the easy out/quick fix Luongo route in an effort " to save his ass, and shoot for playoff spot and likely an early out?"
Personally, I think it will be more than evident that Burke isn't putting himself before the team and worried about his job if he goes with Bernier. |

Burke has done wonders for this team and turned a team that was full of crap, terrible players, and no future in our pool of prospects to a completely different team with promise. There are no centerman available and they are just mere rumours. Only guys burke should be looking at that will help us for the future and players that are available is jonathen bernier and bobby ryan. Both young aged players that fit in with our core of players. Luu signed till the moon at 5.3 makes no sense. While we have JVR who can very much well be the answer to our centerman problems if he works out. |

If this happens, i respect burke for what hes doing. And for that route, he deserves at least 1 more year to prove himself since the next summer involves getzlaf and perry |

Maybe, but all of that was before Quick signed his mega deal this summer.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Bernier isn't interested in being a career back-up for Quick. |

I would agree... I think Lu is an option if Burke feels this team can compete for a cup within the next 3-4 years.
Bernier does make more sense for Toronto... I honestly think the team that made the most sense for Lu wa Tampa... but that didn't end up being the case. As far as the team is concerned.. Chicago is probably the team that makes the most sense now. |

Meh. What Vancouver fans think about Burke is about as relevant as what TO fans think about the Canucks.
Bottom line is Lou doesn't make sense for the Leafs unless the price is peanuts, as even if he takes him to the POs, they likely won't be serious contenders, and by the time they will be, Lou will be too old. |

It's reported he won't waive his NTC for Van. He has a history with Melanson, the current Canuck's gt coach. |

If he works out. I hope he does. Am I not allowed to be tired of the years of ifs? You got way too mad. I'm a Leafs fan like you. I'd be stoked if JVR pans out in that slot. I'm just not that stoked on Bernier until I see him play well for Toronto if he's even been dealt here. As Leaf fans we've been sold way more sizzle than steak for a long ass time. |

He'll get that anyway. With new management coming in this summer and likely wanting a full year to asses before they make any major management/personnel decisions, coupled with the potential of a shortened season, as well as the fact that Carlyle was just hire and will be given a little time for growing pains and adjustments, I don't think Burke has anything to worry about this year and wouldn't be surprised if he was given the following season (2013-2014) as well. |

theo is actually the perfect backup for toronto if they keep reimer.
how many times do i have to say that reimer is a better player (and a better person) than bernier. bernier is unproven. burke has a history of getting the "goalie of the future" and every time he's traded for a goalie it's been a disaster.
name 1 goalie burke has traded for who has panned out. just one. i dare you.
he's generally good at finding a couple good defensemen and that's about it.
i love the guy but man, look up overrated and his picture is on wikipedia along with thornton.
