the isles have more to offer for bernier and will make it happen. - therealagent
An interesting thought.
And buy out DiPietro if a buy-out clause is part of the new CBA. |

theo is actually the perfect backup for toronto if they keep reimer.
how many times do i have to say that reimer is a better player (and a better person) than bernier. bernier is unproven. burke has a history of getting the "goalie of the future" and every time he's traded for a goalie it's been a disaster.
name 1 goalie burke has traded for who has panned out. just one. i dare you.
he's generally good at finding a couple good defensemen and that's about it.
i love the guy but man, look up overrated and his picture is on wikipedia along with thornton. - therealagent
Sounds like he's pretty content to stay in Fla.
TO needs a real goalie. I could be wrong, but I don't think Reimer is the answer; however, I think they need to be patient, rather than overpay for a quick fix, or even for Bernier, if the price is too steep. |

still thinks he ends up in florida for theodore, 2nd Rounder 2013+ - Mapleleafs_91
Its possible he ends up in Florida.. but not for Theodore.. he has already said he wouldn't waive NTC. |

his cap hit is low. keep luongo in florida. keep theo as his backup. they can share poutine.
send markstrom and Kopecky and to toronto for gardiner and a 2nd.
markstrom is better than bernier. |

You're probably right. Burke still won't trade him though. If Markstrom is so highly touted it makes zero sense for Florida to trade for Luongo. Just go with Markstrom, save the assets it would cost to get Luongo and, save some money. |

As a Canucks fan I'm interested to see what you think Gillis has done for the Nucks. He's been a decent GM, but I find it hard to think of a move that defines him as a GM, other than "sometimes the best move is the move you don't make", which he seems to be hanging onto with the whole Luongo situation. He's brought in some guys, some pretty coveted guys, but I'd say that he has yet to make a real move as a GM. Maybe his best move has been grabbing Ehrhoff? Drafting Hodgson? |

They will end up running with markstrom and luongo while luongo starts for some years while markstrom is mentored then when ready he takes over while Luu is the backup. |

Doesnt look like bernier is a leaf yet..........
NHL Rumors and More @leafskidswag
Source from Toronto isn't as reliable as I thought, Frattin and a 2nd was offered, not accepted whatsoever. Bernier is not a #Leaf as of now |

Beauty. I hope he doesn't offer anything more than that either.

Ehrhoff was a good move.
signing ufa's like hamhuis and malholtra were good moves. especially hammer.
getting existing players resigned including kesler, sedins, bieksa (edler will be next), getting schneider extended was a good move.
drafting hodgson wouldn't be up there. his parents are ruining his career, and he's letting them, just like lindros' did. we should have taken myers. people in vancouver like kassian. he's a couple years behind hodgson in development but with sedin and kesler, cody didn't fit at center and isn't the prototypical 3rd line center. he was liked more here after he got traded which is the case for a lot of teams and players.

Yeah, all good moves, but i think he still needs to make that legacy move if the Cancucks want to win a cup. All the moves so far seem to have been safe moves, bringing in coveted dmen, signing homegrown talent, extended AV, I feel he needs to take a risk soon if they want to win it all. Make that one move that shows he knows exactly the player(s) that the team needs, not just the available players out there. It may end his career in Van, but I dont see them getting any farther than they have without one. The Kassian move is kinda like that, we'll see how it pans out. |

sundin was a risk. it paid off by helping the sedins and kesler be better pros. much like messier helped naslund. those players all got better when sundin and messier left. neither were great while they were here (mess was a mess) but they helped the team. garrison might be a great pickup. we'll have to see.
it's probably a reason why he doesn't want to give Lu away. he wants to make a statement. |
