I'll never understand the people who think Ennis is untouchable in a trade for a guy like Bobby Ryan.
- Gunner Staal

Because everyone thinks Ennis is going to take this team to the promised land, we be lucky to see 9th place next year if there is a next season.

1. I love Gerbe, he is one of my favorite players. That being said, I am not sure we could get much more than a fourth or fifth round pick for him. I think he has much more value to us than we could receive via trade. He is skilled and has the heart of a lion, and I remember leaving many games in the first half of last year thinking he was our best player on the ice. But he has not proven anything yet. He is oft injured, and his stats unfortunately detract from his value. I think he could easily score 20 goals and 50 points, but until he does that consistently, with his size, he nets next to nada on the market. As many other have already pointed out, he would greatly benefit from playing on better lines.

2. There are a couple of players that I would rather not trade becuase I think their potential is better than what we would get back. Myers, Ennis, Foligno, and McNabb are all in that category. I am not saying they are untradeable, but I do feel that other GM's would not consider their value as highly as I would and would not give us fair value back. The exception may be Myers, who was talked about for Getzlaf, which I feel is favorable to the Sabres side, hypothesizing both players were committed to similar contracts in as far as length.

Wow, pessimism abounds. I think it is obvious to almost every hockey analyst that the Sabres are a playoff caliber team. And I think the same people that believe there will be no Hockey season are the ones that believe in planet Nibiru, and that the world will end this December coinciding with the end of the Mayan calendar.

Lighten up buddy, not all is hopeless. Time to take those happy pills.

Taking Ennis away from center and adding Bobby Ryan on wing doesnt exactly take us to the promise land either.

Gotta have team balance to win the cup. After giving up Roy, giving up Ennis further depletes this team.

Furthermore, if the majority in here cry all the time about getting Vanek a center, I'd hate to hear the cries over Bobby Ryan not having a quality center

I wish Gerbe a speedy recovery, as he had back surgery yesterday. He herninated a disk in his back during the course of the season. Lindy refered to it as an "upper body injury", but it did not heal as the team had hoped. Get better soon # 42 !

Those kind of injuries happen when your 5'6" with skates and have to carry an entire teams worth of grit and compete on your shoulders.

Would you be willing to trade either of these guys? I think the answer is no. Even if it were Bobby Ryan.

Waits for the Bobby scored 30 plus in 4 straight yrs because of Perry and Getzlaf comments.

While I do think it's a valid argument, you still have to take that chance and pull the trigger on that trade.

Question: Over thier career who will be the better player, iyo, Ennis or Hodgeson?

i agree.. i don't know what it is but i just see more in Ennis, i just hope he keeps it up. Hodge can be a good #2/3 down the road though..

Well yeah you make a good point, but when you break it down its not that sensible

Ryan averages around 63 pts/season and its not overly far fetched to think that ennis can average 60 pts a season for a string of years. Hes got a lot of talent and is just undersized

I bet enzo ends up somewhere in the 54-59 pt range this year and only improves here on out

AKA its not worth: ennis, pysyk, 2nd for bobby ryan (the proposed deal we shut down)

But at the end of the day, I really dont care anymore im sick of all the trade talk I just want them to drop the puck already

- HAMgerber

Now that Ennis is the #1 center in Buffalo, lets see how he stacks up matching up against guys like Patrice Bergeron full time. He is undersized with a small sample size of success. Bobby Ryan has size and has a large sample size to draw from.

Ennis' matchups just got a hell of a lot tougher.

IMO, Hodgson. I think he may be our future captain as well.

Ennis, while talented, will never live up to the expectations that many Sabres fans have placed upon him

I wish Gerbe had Afinogenov's productivity. If he did, he'd be our 2nd line winger instead of a fringe player w/out a guaranteed roster spot
