Disappointed the Flyers didn't land Weber, but the good news is they didn't lose a single asset.

I don't see Nashville trading Weber anytime soon though, give up half a team (ala Eric Lindros) and take the big cap hit as well. Only team I can see possibly even remotely making sense would be Edmonton. We shall see.

What is there to cry about anyway? It was a long shot that the offer sheet wasn't matched.

I'm just glad that there was something exciting to talk about for nearly a week.

And for the Toronto fan denying his team is in on every free agent. Stop living in denial Brian Burke tries to get everyone, but everyone has seen the disaster Brian Burke has put together in TO so no one goes there.

I'm not entirely disappointed that Nashville matched. Getting Weber would have been awesome, but the Flyers would have paid a heavy price in cap space and draft picks.

The Flyers are a young team and maybe the best move for the Flyers is seeing how the team as constituted will do (of course resign Voracek). The Flyers are not a cup contender this year (unless Coots and the Schenns have a huge breakout year), but this Flyers team is a playoff bound team. With all the changes Homer made since last summer maybe just play this season and see what happens.

I wouldn't mind trading for Ryan (at the right price) or signing Doan (reasonably) or Semin (for a year). Maybe next year or soon there after the Flyers can trade for Weber if they still think he's the answer.

That Toronto fan is me. I'm not living in denial, trust me. I'm not saying there isn't interest. Of course there is. A GM wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't interested in acquiring a player to improve his team. As for actually agressively pursuing each player that comes available, that's where I hold reservation. Burke is stubborn and unwilling to give out long front-loaded contracts, so as soon as he knows that's what the player wants, he backs off. The Flyers and Rangers go after everyone all the time, and they go after them hard. That's what I'm saying.
