People fail to realize that in these new markets, it can take some time to build a fan base. And when you have no fan base, you need to sell tickets for cheap.

Hopefully, the Preds have a sturdy enough base now that they can start raising ticket prices to offset some of the losses.

Preds are stuck with Weber for a year. That means their on the hook for the $27MM next year. How long till the Preds declare bankruptcy and the league takes over is the only question.

You know ownership had to dump 60mil into the franchise a few years back to keep it stable & got 38 mil from the city of Nashville. They continue to lose money (7mil down last year).

This was a ballsy move, but financially it could be disastrous for a franchise that was already struggling operating in the red.

No not at all, my point was based on facts. They made 26 million in ticket sales, and owe weber 27 million in the next calendar year (26 mil if theres a lockout). Obviously i'm not fully aware of Nashville's entire financial situtation but that fact alone makes their existence (not to mention success) in Nashville look very bleak.

The best thing Nashville could have done was trade Suter + Weber a year ago when they realized they couldn't afford to sign them long term. They could have had 2 A+ prospects at least for each. Instead they let Suter walk for nothing, and we're forced to resign Weber to a contract that could cripple their franchise.

Could have VERY easily cost the preds much more not to match, This is their captain and I an sure they would have had alot of people lose faith and stop coming. Jersey sales, consessions etc.... Iam sure this had as much to do with it as not letting the flyers grab their most popular player.
