Certainly disappointed, but wouldn't you be if it was your team?

And what is greasy about it? Poile couldn't get a contract done with his franchise player in spite of having exclusive negotiating rights for the last year. So Holmgren tried to sign the player away. What's the problem?

- snake17

there's nothing technically wrong about it but it is greasy.

if you don't see how your GM coming in and offer sheeting the face of nashville's franchise a contract specifically structured to bankrupt the predators is greasy then you got serious flyers glasses on my dude.

Well then at least next year we know what the big rumor will be... who will get Shea Weber via trade? Good for Nashville trying to prove a point you now have one of the best defencemen in the league and he don't want to be there.

if weber was gonna truly bankrupt the franchise and make them fold they obviously wouldn't have matched.

the guys that made this decision are a lot smarter than you, me, and everyone else on this forum and they crunched the numbers for 5 long days and decided they could do it. no one even knows what nashville's money situation really is considering we're going off Forbes which the NHL consistently says is 100% false.

at the end of the day...considering what other contracts have been handed out, this contract for Weber is fair and exactly what he deserved and Poile will probably call Holmgren and thank him for getting Weber locked up for life. nashville has known for years that this is the only type of contract that would've got weber signed.

- rangerdanger94

Completely agree with u if anything is learned from this teams won't do the offer sheet option if there is a chance the team will match

If you leave the keys in the car and the door unlocked, you can't complain when someone steals it.

Poile had over a year to get a contract done with Weber and he didn't do it. When you let another GM negotiate your players contracts you get what you get.

When the Rangers offer-sheeted Sakic for $21 million in year one of the contract was that greasy? Or was that the Rangers taking advantage of Colorado not knowing how to run their franchise?

Doubt they are on the hook for 26 million in a year to let him go the following year.

Right, just like the offer sheets that came pouring in for Carter and Richards after the Flyers offer-sheeted Kesler. Wait...oh, that didn't happen? Because the Flyers locked up their own free agents before their contacts expired? What a concept!

A player signing an offer sheet doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't want to be on that team anymore.

A lot of times it's just about money, and the team he signed the offer sheet to is offering lots of it.

LOL did u really just try to rationalize the greasy offer with grand theft auto...which is a felony?

well poile now has weber under contract for the rest of his life at a fair cap hit thanks to other GMs negotiating weber's contract

that sakic offer sheet was greasy as hell. difference is i'll admit it and you won't.

Maybe so but weber is a pro I doubt he pulls a Nash or heatley beside his agent was on sportsnet today he said they want a no trade clause added on to the contract he never said he didn't want to be there just said he was surprised they matched the offer

Nice changing the story. You clearly don't know how to argue effectively.

There's a course at the local community college in the Fall you should look in to.

Ok, who is the unlocked door, and who is the lock?

Point being, your comparison is weak lmao.

So you wouldn't think it'd be greasy if someone offer sheeted Giroux next year (I think).

I'm starting to smell something... What is that?

Oh.. just hear a moo. It's a cow.

But what's that smell?

If you think I changed my story then you obviously don't know how to read. If Poile had re-signed his own free agent before Weber's contract had expired then we wouldn't be having this discussion and they wouldn't owe his $27 million next year.
