No.
I'm just saying, Canucks fans blast Leafs for not winning since 1967, yet the Canucks existance is only 3 years behind that... - BoBBeR56
Mathematically it actually is five times harder to win a Cup now than it was back then!
Anyways I don't have a hate on for the Leafs like some others, but I do absolutely hate Brian Burke. That hatred started in Vancouver, has nothing to do with Toronto. |

100 percent agreed. Only two things I liked was the Sedin "robbery" and Sedin is not english for punch me or headlock me in a scrum |

gagliardi will match any and all offers.
he didn't just buy the team to have some gm make a mockery of his organization. if nothing else, gagliardi will match to let the league/fans/players know that there is serious money behind the stars now.

disagree about burke though.
i hate his personality but like his hockey acumen. i was pissed he was let go in vancouver (over fcuking personality issues rather than hockey issues!). he's a good gm but he's too stubborn for his own good. all in all, i was unhappy that he was let go especially for an assistant that isn't half the gm as burke.

Would love for Montreal to do this, after they have successfully signed Subban though
Left wing big physical can score and is still young.
I don't think Dallas lets him walk for three or even four first rounders though.
Would be nice though to have:
Pacioretty Desharnais Cole
Benn Plekanec Gionta
Bourque Eller Leblanc
Armstrong White Moen
Gomez - Amnesty buyout, traded or to the minors to bury the salary cap hit.

The only way the Oilers are in on this is if it is part of something bigger.
IE, sign Benn then trade either Gagner/Hemsky+ for a Dman.
If they signed Benn their top 6 would be:
Benn-RNH-Ebs
Hall-Gags-Yakupov
or
Hall-RNH-Ebs
Hemsky-Benn-Yakupov
That would be a sick top 6. |

makes no sense, imagine having all the best players today and distributing them into 6 teams instead of 30. so with 6 teams, teams are all competitive instead of now with teams like cbj and small market teams - washingtonsux
Problem with that is, all the best players didn't play in the NHL. A lot of good players played in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association later the Western Canadian Hockey League, not as many. But some good players played on the west coast from 1912 until the 1950's.
Vancouver teams won 8 Championships in those times, including one Stanley Cup when the PCHA/WCHL played against the NHA/NHL for the Cup for a short period of time. 1915 to 1926.
I know you probably think all the best players played in the NHL, that just isn't the case. There was a good league on the west coast during the early to mid 1900's.
In any case all teams should be proud of their history, some franchises just don't have any business rubbing it in others faces. Montreal won Cups in the 70's, 80's and 90's, they can rub the Stanley Cup thing in my ear...Toronto...not so much. |

EK, didn't you say a while back that if you got "rumours" from canada it would be spelled with a U and if it was from the states it would be sans U? you can't seem to keep anything straight. |

You can disagree all you want, my opinion won't change. He's an absolute (frank)tard! He's not a good GM, he's good at one thing and one thing only. Trades. Other than that he's a terrible GM. He's also a first class pr!ck of a person, arrogant to the bitter end! |

you know your team has taken some abuse when it's been researched to that degree.

Well said... not to mention quality of hockey isn't what it is today... majority of players had 2nd jobs... and many would play thru injuries. Conditioning was completely different and travel was a pain... just watch how bad some of the players were back then in comparison to many others.
Didn't they have a best of 3 series for the playoffs at one point.... a prime example of how much easier it was to win back when the NHL first came together...every single original team won at least once in the first 10 years. And then teams started to branch off with true dynastys.
You can even notice the difference just from the late 80s... players who wouldnt even have a shot in todays NHL were playing regular shifts.

Wouldn't mind Gagner, Hemsky or Benn on our team.. you guys were good keeping Gagner's contract reasonable, makes him even more tempting.
