Great blog Brian.
I'm hoping that Kadri with a solid summer under Gary Roberts will grow out of his 12-year old body and develop the strength for the NHL. Hopefully we will see flashes of this in training camp - whenever that ends up taking place .. |

Put them at 11 on my list. Above average, but don't have enough "elite" talent to jump into the Top 6-8. - Brian Huddle
btw, good analysis on the players, I'm not really seeing the Paul Martin, Knuble comparisons but I see where you're coming from, I have the Leafs at about 12th in the rankings. |

Burke should be fired. The Leafs have been in a rebuild for 11 years now and this is the best prospect group he can collect? What a joke...none of those guys are big difference makers that will make this team a big dog in the East. Burke needs to figure it out and start making some big splashes in free agency. - broadstreet11

Not trying to troll here just bringing up something Leaf fans just turn there head to...you are all little Joe Paterno's...Leaf fans settle for whatever they are given and thats the problem with the whole situation...ownership will continue to give you a medicore club each and every year because they can...Leaf fans don't get it. - broadstreet11
I feel sorry for your parents. they must feel embarrassed when you're around them. |

Exactly...Burke doesn't have a clue what he is doing...let's overpay for guys who are overrated past their prime and injury prone...the way Burke is running things is not the way you make a contender in this league. - broadstreet11
Seriously? Have you never seen July1, UFA day? EVERY player who signs is overpaid...

Look at the Leafs team prior to Burke, and look now...
Then come post again...
You will realize how stupid you sound...
Burke has done A LOT for this Leafs team in the 4 years he has been here. - BoBBeR56
Now that team just needs to get off the paper and pay burke back with atleast one 9th place finish. |

This is in such poor taste, I have been patient here but will be no more.
Leafs fans are divided on how they would like the team to be built, some of us want the prospects to develop and keep building depth, some want to deplete that depth for a quick fix, to group all of the Leafs together is ignorant. Tread carefully. |

NHL lockout + win draft Lotto + draft nathan mackinnon = one heck of a young core group of players. To bad a lockout is about the only way that happens. |

Pretty sure there are other websites that are dedicated to just the blue&white world view.
The beauty of this website is the interaction with other teams fans, if you can't handle it, either try a blue&white circle jerk or hide under a mods skirt pressing your little ! button. |

This is honestly the dumbest logic I have ever heard.
Playoffs, deep playoffs = more money in ticket sales, merch sales, etc. Getting the fanbase excited means HUGE $$$$.
MLSE wants to make as much money as possible. |

He's only 22, you have to be 24 before you are a bust, - prock. - Oilhab
I know what you are doing but seriously with the exception St. Louis and a few others how many top 6's in the NHL were not contributing at least by the time they were 22? Never mind top 3 which is what we all hoped he'd be.
If he isn't playing regularily in the top 9 by mid point of this year, I'd say he's close to done. |

Well it's better than it was a few years ago.
Kadri is a bit of a disappointment though. If he doesn't make a mark on the team this year is he considered a bust? - stormey
I know its a different sport, but I can think of two clear examples of guys who took some time to get the big league game, and fortunately their organization was patient with them and let them develop. They are Roy Halladay and Carlos Delgado.
Tlusty by definition would be considered a bust, but there he is on Carolina's top line finding chemistry with Eric Staal at the age of 23. Here's what I've seen with Kadri, I've seen glimmers of above average offensive creativity, an above average hockey IQ, a willingness to battle along the boards and not shy away from rough stuff, I've also seen games where he is plugged in with 3rd line stiffs, and he goes all Johnny Malkin on us. I've yet to see a real try on the top two lines (at least not since his first call-up), or him on a regular line with regular linemates. Yet again, what I have seen in his play is something I never saw from other top pick busts that we've had in Toronto such as Warriner (who was all wheels), Convery (who was always a step behind both in how he played and in anticipating the play), Rob Pearson (knew where to go to put the puck in the net, but was slow as poop and exposed against faster players), Tlusty (who really did look like a boy against men at all times). He's 21, this is his make or break season in this organization. If he doesn't work out this year, he'll just get shipped to another organization (like Cody Hodgson) and I wouldn't be surprised if he works out there, and I won't blame the GM for giving up on him, sometimes guys need a change of scenery. |

Leafs were 12 points out of 8th last year...and with you being a Habs fan I don't know how many Leaf games you watched, but there were a lot of games where bad goaltending cost the Leafs a win...
Had we had a legit #1 goalie, or had our goalies (Monster) stole a game rather than gave up a game, Leafs woulda been a lot closer to that 8th spot... |

Infact it's the opposite, people trolling in Leaf blogs are shown too much leniancy (proof right here with that 'Joe paterno' comment and still being given 1 more chance.), while Leaf fans who stray from these blogs get banned or reported after 1 comment that may be seen as Trolling. |
