LOL

It's a real shame nobody wants anything to do with this city. I mean, the media's a female dog but still, if you aren't in the north-central or northeastern US you're not attracting any decent free agents

- AngryWhiteMale

I noticed that too.

i dunno, would you sign on a non playoff team?
Frank we need a goalie

- bobbyisno1

At the end of the day, Goaltending makes or breaks you team

Andersson in Ottawa was a good example. he was a big reason they did so well

Anyone else find the Scrivens comparison to Reimer rather funny.
Not saying there aren't similarities, but it was worth a chuckle

Anyone else here thinking it's Krejci+ for Bobby Ryan? I think that's a good fit. Perhaps Krejci, Horton and a 2nd would be good enough as surely Horton's career is on the downturn after getting his bell rung

- AngryWhiteMale

I noticed that too.

It was a "wtf? really?" moment for me.

What hurts is seeing what Rangers paid for Nash

Yea, I cant stand the haters either. Im not down on Burke for not getting the big names or making signings, though I am disappointed we couldnt land Nash. Whatever the reasons were doesnt really matter I guess.

What do you think about Doan? Not whether he would even want to play here, but would you be interested in Burke going after him?

I would love the idea. Even if we had to over pay for 2 years. I felt the team lacked leadership, of the veteran kind, and that tough in your face player. A power foward of sorts, if you will.

- Gunslinger

Doan is exactly what they need.

Did Nash say that?

Ive hated Eric Staal for his comments at the all star roster selection. Do I have to hate Nash too? Shame. Then again, he is from Brampton...and if you're from Brampton would you really want to go back home?

- Gunslinger

not outright, but the Leafs were not one of the teams on his short-list since the end of the season.

Which one could argue is he wants to be on a top team. He actually said (for what it's worth...) that the reason he asked for a trade was he didn't want to go through another rebuild. 9 years of it so far and no success. Leafs, even with Nash, are still missing a couple big pieces. I don't blame him.

would be nice if he was also 28 instead of 35. Doan makes the team better instantly, no question, but for how long? 2 years?

Can't play his style of game as you get close to 40.

Burke isn't a big fan of offer sheets so he's not just going to start tossing them out there just to take a shot in the dark.

If the Predators can match Weber, the Jets and the Stars can match anything within reasonable range for Kane or Benn.

- Two_For_Truth

Negative, Dallas would not be able to match an offer sheet to Jamie Benn

I'm talking specifically about the reaction lately.

I get what you are saying, and I don't disagree. I'm just tired of the reactions over PArise, Suter, Weber, NAsh. they were not available to the Leafs, so to chastise burke for not getting something he had no access to is asinine.

I saw someone on twitter suggest Kadri, Frattin and two 1st round picks for Benn. I chuckled.

A lot of things make or break a team. Defense, scoring. You have to be good all around or fantastic in 2 categories to be successful.

It wasn't for Chicago when they won the cup, or Philly when they made it to the finals. They try to make it out to be a battle of the goalies very often but usually you can tell you is going to win the game by who is outplaying the other team.

Where would Doan fit into our top 6? We have enough baggage to lose already. And don't say "bury them all" or "trade them all for a bag of pucks": they're still assets and they have to be considered as such, and right now, we're really crowded in our top 9.

who aside from Kessel and Lupul is a better winger than Doan? not to mention Doan brings a physical element that your other wingers don't-net presence. he'd be a great fit in Toronto. Montreal too. everyone talks about big centres but if you have 2 big wingers, doesn't matter if you have a small centre.

Trade whoever you need to make room. Trade for picks...or put together a package for a goalie or center. Honestly Mac would become expendable, even kulie. Or move kulie to the 3rd line. But I'm sure a package of mac, kulie a prospect(s), and a 2nd or 3rd pick could bring in a decent return.

Again, someone failing to think through the process of acquiring a winger and finding a home for your other assets.

Ditto for fakepartofme above.

well to be fair, i'm not a Leaf fan so i don't know the depth chart by heart. i'm just saying he's better than most of your wingers. you wouldn't, say, rid yourself of Mike Brown for Shane Doan and drop Kulemin down?

You could easily trade wingers and make room.
