Well if Winnipeg is looking to sign Kane at 4.8m for the next 6 seasons why not throw in an offer of 5.8 - 6mill for 10 years with ridiculous bonus money like these other fools have been receiving. It's worth a shot. I'd love a player like Kane or Benn even at 6+ million. Unless Burke has some sort of trade brewing, he would be a fool not to make an attempt. - PootieTang
Burke isn't a big fan of offer sheets so he's not just going to start tossing them out there just to take a shot in the dark.
If the Predators can match Weber, the Jets and the Stars can match anything within reasonable range for Kane or Benn. |

I'm surprised you guys were able to count to 10. Couple fillers in there. At what point does Kadri go from being a prospect to a bust? I'm sure he's already there, but that's just me. - Scooby_Doo

Anything with Leafs on it has become moron central. They female dog about the crap signings of Army and Komi and so on, then female dog about him not doing anything this year. Um, duh!! Those that talk about Burke failing because he didn't top the NYR deal for Nash should asks their caregivers why that doesnt make sense. It's nothing but nonsense . - burn
I think the point of the female doging, at least from my point of view, is more about Toronto/Burke always missing out or passing on the elite players. When available.
The frustration, again my opinion, is over the Leafs going for the average guys. The betweeners, if you will. The Connollys, Beauchemins, Komis, Armstrongs that make too much for too many years. Nobody is upset we're missing out on that crop/tier if players. Thankfully, we avoided that this season. That said, when you havent made the playoffs in almost 10 years, have been the butt of jokes, never able to draft that star player, not signing the elite/star players in years....it takes it's toll.
All this said, Burkes job is not an easy one and IMO he has done a decent job to good job. But he clearly has to do better, and that starts with getting the best of the best, the guys who can get'r done. As far as I am concerned fans have the right to be pissed and in vent mode for all the inactivity, when you're a bottom feeding team and have been for years now with NOTHING to have been positive about in years. |

And who would that be?? weber?? Nope. PArise & Suter? Nope. NAsh? Nope. None of the elite players that have been female doged about were truly available to the Leafs. |

Im not about naming names. None of use know who is avaiable, interested etc.
You're being narrow minded. Burke hasnt been on the job for only a month. Trades are another option. You can sit here and assume over a couple of players, but im thinking broader.
His stance that he wont offer those contracts is another cock block on the matter this team doesnt need. You want to play with the big boys, pay like the big boys. |

Hopefully a lock out would take care of that.
Its this teams best bet and chance. Toronto and Edmonton would have the best odds if the season were to lock out. Assuming they used the same formula as the last lottery. |

I'm talking specifically about the reaction lately.
I get what you are saying, and I don't disagree. I'm just tired of the reactions over PArise, Suter, Weber, NAsh. they were not available to the Leafs, so to chastise burke for not getting something he had no access to is asinine. |

Yea, I hear you on that. People do need to chill out.
Burke though, IMO, has to have the balls and the money tossing that Holmgren, Lombardi and Sather have. While not all three are winning cups, I would still rather be in their position right now. Bad contracts or not.
I dont think any of us can truly know for sure if any ever would consider playing here. We cant always believe the media gossip, and Burkes anti-LTC stance could have played a part in them never being in the mix. We just simply dont really know, but its his job to do ALL he can to get this team into the mix for those guys. Whether with cash and/or a hell of a sell job from the team and its owners.\
If fans at least saw the effort, desire and hard work on trying to sign the big names they wouldnt be putting the blame and pressure on him. But everything we have seen thus far is Burke stating he is not interested in those contracts and he would NOT be chasing big names in free agency. Personally, thats the best avenue right now. Certainly better than trading picks and prospects to get the big guns which this team needs to avoid.
For these reasons, ya fans have the right to be a little pissed. In my opinion of course.

Yup, but that is not their arguments.
If those that wanted to bash Burke had a truly sound foundation of which to base their arguments it'd be more compelling. Until then, those shredding Burke for not trading for Nash need to get a brain, get a clue, change teams, (frank) off or all of the above. |

GO LEAFS GO
Offer sheet from burke won't happen.... Infact how many sheets have been shipped out and how many have worked for the offer sheet team.
All I can think of is penner, because of the fiasco between burke and mctavish in the news.

What hurts is seeing what Rangers paid for Nash
Yea, I cant stand the haters either. Im not down on Burke for not getting the big names or making signings, though I am disappointed we couldnt land Nash. Whatever the reasons were doesnt really matter I guess.
What do you think about Doan? Not whether he would even want to play here, but would you be interested in Burke going after him?
I would love the idea. Even if we had to over pay for 2 years. I felt the team lacked leadership, of the veteran kind, and that tough in your face player. A power foward of sorts, if you will. |

Did Nash say that?
Ive hated Eric Staal for his comments at the all star roster selection. Do I have to hate Nash too? Shame. Then again, he is from Brampton...and if you're from Brampton would you really want to go back home? |

Anyone else find the Scrivens comparison to Reimer rather funny.
Not saying there aren't similarities, but it was worth a chuckle
Anyone else here thinking it's Krejci+ for Bobby Ryan? I think that's a good fit. Perhaps Krejci, Horton and a 2nd would be good enough as surely Horton's career is on the downturn after getting his bell rung |

LOL
It's a real shame nobody wants anything to do with this city. I mean, the media's a female dog but still, if you aren't in the north-central or northeastern US you're not attracting any decent free agents |
