And they've played a boatload in AHL. - Fakepartofme
What's a boatload? 92 games for Kadri?........72 games for Scrivens?
Season Awards by season
2008-2009 NCAA (ECAC) Second All-Star Team
2009-2010 NCAA (ECAC) Champion
NCAA (ECAC) First All-Star Team
NCAA (ECAC) Goaltender of the Year
NCAA Top Collegiate Player "Hobey Baker Award" Finalist
2010-2011 ECHL All-Star Game
2011-2012 AHL Best GAA (2.04)
AHL Best Goaltending Duo "Harry Holmes Trophy"
Personally, I like those credentials, and would consider that enough to be considered a decent prospect. Especially that SPCT at every level leading into the NHL. |

I'll be perfectly honest, here. Around these parts, bloggers and refs are insulted to no end. I get PMs, or straight up comments poking fun at everything and anything. I had somebody insult my girlfriend, which is going way too far, IMO.

If gilmore had just complained like a woman, instead of taking it like a man, that would've been 1 hell of a 1993 final... |

Ya. To me a player who has played that many games in the AHL and that many games in the NHL (although Scrivens hasn't played a lot in the NHL - so maybe he could still be considered a prospect) simply shouldn't be labelled as a prospect anymore. Kadri is a young depth player for the leafs right now, I hope he can make the club full time this season....he deserves it, he has some great hands. |

The outcome would had been the same, it just would had been billed as revenge for 67, instead of the great one vs the great franchise. |

The outcome would be fine with me. Just the Idea of a very competative Toronto Vs. Montreal in the Cup Finals gives me a raging semi...
I would only hope it would be tight, like a 7 game series. |

then you would have had to suffer the indignity to losing in the final to Montreal. would that have been much better? because no one was beating Patrick that year. he strung the Kings up by their balls after game 1. |

I'm not insulting the kids play...I like both Kads and Scrivs and I'm hoping they both are successful with the leafs....I just dont think they are prospects anymore (although scrivs could be, as mentioned in my previous post). Personally I thought Kadri should have played all season last year with the leafs...but I'm glad he got some playoff experience in the AHL too. |

Not trying to troll here just bringing up something Leaf fans just turn there head to...you are all little Joe Paterno's...Leaf fans settle for whatever they are given and thats the problem with the whole situation...ownership will continue to give you a medicore club each and every year because they can...Leaf fans don't get it. - broadstreet11
I know it's late, but got sick of this crap.
Why does anyone out there feel that Management has no interest in putting a good team together? What evidence of this is there?
Owners want to make $, plain and simple. It is a business. There are 3 ways they can do this that are in their control:
1) Do not spend to the cap, saving $
2) Do not pay your management lots of $, in order to save
3) Go on an extended playoff run so you can sell more tickets and have more televised games for Ad revenue.
Management hasn't managed to do #3, but they have definitely not taken to resorting to #1 and #2. This team spends to the cap every year. They pay their management team a (frank)ing fortune to try and win. Anyone that thinks the actions of the owners is anything other than showing desire to win is either ignorant, or just willingly stupid.
As for Burke, he is doing what is needed. We are not a competing team at the moment, we are a team in a rebuild. Trading the pieces you just acquired for a player that wont put you over the edge is pointless right now. As the GM, you can only do so much to attract UFAs to your team, but the end result is that most want to go to a contending team. We are not one yet. In a few years I'm sure it will be far easier to attract UFAs.
As for the signings we have had, they may not have worked out, but I guess it is a good thing that Burke doesnt sign players to Long contracts. It would be a disaster if Connolly was signed for 10+ years. Luckily we are rid of players like him, Lombo, Komi, etc... within 2 years.
Our prospects have also been sheltered so they can develop properly for the first time in the last 20 years or so. Kadri isn't a bust at 21 because he hasnt made the jump. In fact, he has shown he CAN make the jump, but Burke is doing what he does for most of his prospects. Easing them in. it worked for guys like Ryan, H. Sedin, D. Sedin, etc...
Relax people. We arent winning the cup this year, so why should we ruch anything? |
