I came home from China and went almost immediately back to the Middle East, didn't like the job in China. Dirty smelly disgusting living conditions there!
Heading back home tomorrow to Victoria, I'm exhausted. Need some RNR! I'm a member at Gorge Vale, gonna get my money's worth this time home.
Taking the Mrs down to Pebble Beach for two nights, includes a round of golf there, trying to mend some fences with her she's...well how should I put it...unhappy with me at the moment! - LeftCoaster
Pebble Beach, "mmmm, Colorado, beautiful". Haven't played Gorge, my mom is a member at Uplands so I play there pretty often. Not too challenging if you can keep it straight, which I never can... |

I thought that post was fairly polite in comparison to so many others. Opinionated, but polite. - AlexF
I agree. That's probably the most polite post I've seen from her on a Canucks board. |

Offer sheet Benn. Who cares if Burrows wants more money because of it. He deserves more anyways and if they cant afford it, Benn would be a huge upgrade.
Who the hell is running this team anyways? AV and his gang of favorites?
If our compensation ends up being four 1st rounders then maybe Gillis obtains a couple picks in trades involving Lu and the potentially unhappy core that people keep reminding us about. |

That's all fine and dandy, but I don't see Luongo being ok with it. - LeftCoaster
Well, if Lou isn't OK with it then I guess he'll just have to waive his NTC completely in order to give Gillis a wider range of teams to trade him to. Lou signed the contract as well.....so he can't really say trade me now and there are only 3 teams i'll waive for. Maybe after 20 games in which he gets only 2 starts playing in Columbus will be an attractive option. |

Not happening. Vancouver will not get a 1st round pick back from anyone. They will get a prospect and something like a 3rd or 4th and even then they will be forced to take back salary. He will not and can't have Luongo in training camp. - imsorry66
Thanks... I've been waiting for someone to tell me what was going to happen.. the anticipation was killing me.
Are you able to tell us which team he is getting traded to? and what prospect and salary is coming back? Unless you just know like the basics of the deal but wern't given details by the GMs?
Either way thanks for sharing the information... now everyone here can just shut up about it. |

I love Lapierre. Guys like him are the reason that you don't pay $2.5m for guys like Prust. For half the price, you so much more for your buck. Sure, he's not the greatest fighter, but he gives it his all and his commitment is unquestionable. |

I love Lappy because most fans of other teams hate him... every team needs that 1 or 2 players that are uninamously hated by players and fans alike.
And the fact that he started fighting last year... and sticking up for his team makes it much easier to cheer for him now. |

If the compensation were to be 4 1sts.... either the salary of over 7.8 is way to high or the term is too long.
Either way.... I think between 5.5 to 6 for 5 years would be a fair offer sheet. Which would be a little difficult for Dallas to match.. but like most offer sheets.. probably would be. Its pointless... |

If we don't get Doan, I'm game for offering Benn 4-5mill/ offersheet. I would even give Doan a time limit so that if he chooses not to play here, he won't be handcuffing you for other moves |

You could use the same strategy as Philly and make the first couple years very financially uncomfortable for them. I don't think they are doing well enough to handle an attempt of that nature. |

This. That's the only way it's likely to happen. Average aav of 6m over, say, 6 years but front load the crap out of it for the first 2 years.
With new ownership Joe N appears to have some money to spend, but I'm not sure if he has that much. Let's not forget Dallas was advertising $9 tickets late last season when they were battling for a playoff spot. |

I would say the moving of Ribiero indicates an unwillingness to be a top tier spending team. |

The new owner is a billionaire competetive SOB who would love nothing more than to win a stanley cup... he is friends with francesco aquilini... and rumor is... they have a substantial bet of who will win the cup first. You better believe he is going to match any and all offer sheets and then turn around and offer sheet your best player at the league max.

True but then they go out sign Whitney, Jagr, and trade Ott for Roy to replace Ribeiro. I'm not sure what the end goal is for any of that strategy but they've certainly been active.
My guess: they would match any reasonable offer for Benn. But I still think it's worth a shot, especially if Benn tells Joe N he'd prefer to play in VAN. |

From what I've read.. Ribeiro had some character issues and they wanted him gone? Not sure how much truth there is to it... but the moves they have made so far this off season do not point to saving money.
I think over the next coupld years.. we will see Dallas start to make some moves and spend some money. |

It's possible and I'm not discounting it, but they would be paying out of pocket and taking a loss to do so. Their cash flow isn't the greatest and they rarely sell out. Then again, if an owner likes to treat his investment like his own fantasy hockey team then revenue be damned. |
