Darcy front loaded the contract for Myers, Erhroff, Leino, Sekera... Not sure why a Winnipeg fan cares. In Buffalo we have all the excuses, billionare owner their should be no excuses.
- MrSquirrel

myers, erhoff, leino, and sekera, all contracts created pegula era, if you havent realized this much of these contracts were designed when buffalo's pockets had a limit.

If Darcy gives up Ennis you will get Ryan forget all the other crap offers, it starts with Ennis. Darcy has no balls and won't part with Ennis, gotta give to get. We would be weaker at center if we move Ennis but Ryan is worth the risk IMO.
- SABRES 89

because parting with Ennis for Ryan isnt a smart move honestly. if in the end he ends up doing it, then fine, Ryan is a good player. But first I think you exhaust any and all options that dont include Ennis, CoHo or Grigorenko. And they have the other pieces to really make that happen IMO

edit: And I think what Garth meant about Philly being out on Ryan wouldnt be from cap space standpoint, but from trade standpoint, especially if the likely scenario of them trading current players to Nashville to get some of their picks back

I talked to him too. We're each responsible for ourselves on here.

Darcy has never traded a player on his team who was signed for more than one season, the only guys he will trade are in the final contract year and prospects. He is not a great GM.

- MrSquirrel

Yeah, Darcy is the kinda person at the casino playing 5 lines on the penny slots while the Ranger and Philly GMs are throwing down G's at the tables. He's not what you call a risk taker.

I'm not saying the Anchor Bar has the best wings, but I'm saying the fifty-piece bucket for $40 feels like great value.
- Travis Yost

Their wings are great...
It's just the "in" thing to trash them bc they are so popular & then say YOUR local neighborhood place is better

Fact is...
Just about anywhere u get wings in Buffalo they'll be pretty good

All I said was that "Darcy on WGR550 interview said "I am looking to trade prospects or picks for a signature player". Then I told the 100% truth that Darcy NEVER trades a player on HIS team that EVER has more that ONE season remaining on the current contract.

You guys can think Darcy is going to work deals for Joe Thornton or Vinnie Lecavier but the owner and the GM already said "We want to ADD to the current team not subtract".

So if you listen to press conferences and interviews you can find the plan, the players on the current team with over one season remaining under contract are not going anywhere, the GM and owner want to ADD to the team. This means Darcy is looking to trade draft picks and prospects for a player like Bobby Ryan(for example).

when Darcy trades a player on his current team who is signed for more than 1 season then and only then have things changed. I'd like to see Pominville moved since his value will never be higher than right now. Vanek I don't think they could move so he most likely will just sign with Minnesota in 2 years when he's a free agent.

Nothing speacial about Ennis and Hodgson, when a player like Ryan is on the block you try for him. Darcy could get Ryan but won't part with what it takes to do it.

I guess my only question on this would be why trade Pominville when your looking to get better? Hes a very good player and unless you can get a superstar player, moving him doesnt really make you better

Nobody would ever take him but, I would offer Leino to any team in the league and include a couple picks just to get rid of him and his contract.

So how exactly are the Rags out on either player when they have like 11 million in cap space still AFTER getting Nash?

Welp, I disagree with the whole idea that he cant get a deal done for bobby ryan. Buffalo has a suspiciously stacked defensive depth chart. Filled with valuable prospects. I also disagree that Darcy refuses to trade a player with multiple years on their contract. Does he hold a high value on signed players, yes, but there is more to it than just that, there is an overall structure to the team. Why destroy one wall just to rebuild another?

they have 2 defensemen to sign, so they can still be in on doan. that trade could be what gets doan to sign with them.

well our wall is currently broken, so breaking it down and rebuilding the new wall could be what the team needs to finally get over the edge and get to the SCF's if not win the cup.

thats the goal.

Someone may. I mean Versteeg just got paid almost 6 mil a year. The Panthers took Campbell from Chicago and his 7 mil.

IMO these are the Sabres comparables to the Nash Trade.

Dubinsky - Ennis/Hodgson
Anisimov - Foligno
Erixon - Sekera/Pysyk
+ a first.

It just so happens that the NYR are loaded and can afford to give that up.

It really doesn't make sense to trade Ryan before Getzlaf and Perry are signed to extensions...if they trade him and they walk next year, the Ducks are ruined.

Shea Weber would be due a signing bonus of $13M on July 1 of next season. Is it possible that Weber could be traded on July 1 of next year and the team he is traded to has to pay his bonus, or would he have to be paid on July 1 by Nashville regardless of a trade happening on that day.
- theblueandgold

Weber can't be traded for a full calendar year, so he wouldn't be able to be traded until July 23-25, 2013, or one year from whenever Nashville matches. Which means if they match, the are on the hook for both this year's signing bonus and next year's signing bonus no matter what.

This is Lindy here. Myers will be playing center soon enough.
