a top line of nash-richards-gaborik is pretty slick but i agree, i don't see either team getting a cup anytime soon, maybe if the flyers get Weber, but that's still a maybe. i liked the rangers setup before this trade and although i don't think they gave up that much in the trade, i think it could hurt team chemistry some.

When do you see the Sabres getting a Cup if you don't see the Flyers or Rangers getting one soon?

Everyone is ripping Howson on the Nash trade, but I think that Dubinsky is a #1 Center and he will probably outscore Nash this year alone. Ansimov has some upside still and so does Erixon, so I think you have to look at this trade 5 years out.

In terms of playing years, Nash may have 8 years left, whereas the 4 players coming to Colombus might have up to 40 years left.

Also, if you look at the Colombus forwards, they have some heavy hitters on this team.

Buffalo should be trying to talk to Howson about Umberger, Brassard and/or Foligno......Umberger and Foligno would be 2/3ds of a nice 3rd line in Buffalo.

- RicoMartin

The only problem with that is Brassard I think is there plan B for center and dont see us getting Foligno getting traded again.

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything...
Just seemed like a crazy amount to me

I really don't get this fascination with Getzlaf though
Real "#1" centers don't have years where they score 11goals
The guy is on a line with TWO studs...
He should score 20 by accident
He's likely to bounce back, no matter where he plays...
But a good season for him is 70points...
Ennis IMO is at least a 60point guy
To me, considering that Ennis is going to make less than HALF of what Getzlaf will his next deal...
I'd rather have Ennis
And there's no way I'd give up Ennis + +

- jdfitz77

Didn't take is as being rude at all. I completely agree with you, especially after watching the Ennis video over in Kevin's blog...If anyone wants to see why Darcy isn't likely to trade him go take a look.

Dubinsky more points then Nash? doubt it. Why do we need Foligno we have one, no on Brassard and Umberger is not a number 1 center. Howson can keep his trash.

Dubinsky had 34 points this year and has only eclipsed 50 once in his career. He's not even close to being a true #1 center.

Rumored to be between Sabres and Bruins in the Ryan sweeps. I still think Buf has more tools to put together a better offer.

Plus Boston is right up against the cap if you include Thomas. So without moving him first any deal Boston puts together has to have equal salary going out. Not that that's impossible to do, but it adds an extra hurdle.

i never said i thought the sabres had a better chance. i would like the sabres to have a better chance but the east is a crapshoot anyways, you survive the grueling eastern conference only to play a team that's more battle-tested and ready to screw you up out west.

The Bruins will step up to the plate, the Sabres won't. Darcy doesn't have the stones, won't part with Ennis.

Krejci is the player being mentioned to the Bruins, he makes 5.3 mill and Ryan is 5.1 mill, there's your winner. The Ducks want a number 2 center and seems to fit .

I thought he'd be a perfect #3 for us
Good "checking" center
More points than Nash? Only if Nash gets hurt

CBus has a lot of guys that can play center
Johannsen, Umburger, Brassard, Dubinsky, Anisimov...
Some of these guys play wing too...
So it's not like they HAVE to trade someone...
But it's prob worth the call to find out

Maybe Dubinsky can be had after all?

they can go over the cap in the offseason by $7m but must be cap-compliant by the beginning of the season

The rumor says Stafford, Sekera, Gerbe, and a 1st. I'd do it.

If that's the offer we need to get Luca Sbisa back in the deal with Ryan.

Not necessarily
You are allowed to go over the cap by 10% in the offseason,
Which this year is 7mil...
They have plenty of time to figure out how to get back under
