Yeah I agree, if he's moved it will be at the deadline.
On another note a guy I work with knows Conroy (kids go to the same school) said that Feaster is trying like hell to get Ramo over here for this season. That tells me Kipper may be the first to go if Ramo actually gets over here this year. - whipper334
I did list him as the most ready guy on the teams prospect list |

I did actually. And most teams will consider things like this, but as mentioned above I dont think it counts if theres a freeze. Iginla, in my opinion, may be the first to move...they are no doubt talking about extensions and or him accepting to be moved.
Feaster likely wants to sign him long term to finish out his career, although you have to think Jerome wants a cup...and his seasons remaining are now numbered.
I could see a sign and trade happen, this way it give Iginla the term and money he wants and it leaves it open for a few months. If the team is doing quite well, he stays, if they are doing ok or poorly, he agrees to move. Once Doan is gone too...Iginla should be the biggest fish come deadline.... - Colin Dambrauskas
Hope you guys are right about the year not counting in a lockout. sure wish I was a fly on the wall when Feaster & Jerome are discussing future. Dont know about that sign & trade unless Iggy is worried what the CBA negotiations are going to do to the cap & future contract structures. Dont think you could structure a deal for longer than 5 years for him right now anyway & if you did with bonuses, you are looking at a high cap hit. That may not be such a moveable contract after. On the other hand at least you have something to show for him. I think Whipper is right, Flames have put themselves in a terrible position leaving this to the last year, especially knowing that the CBA was expiring & what implications that had. |

You think?
Because frankly, whatever Iginla may bring back in a trade, will have more value to the team than him playing out the remaining years of his contract and either retiring or walking... - Colin Dambrauskas
I think there is a big difference though. The problem with Columbus is that they needed players that can help NOW. No way they could have traded for future assets. If they were willing to do so, they probably could have received more in return.
If the Flames do end up trading Iggy it will probably be for blue chip prospects who have yet to play in the NHL or draft picks. Also, unlike Nash, Iggy doesn't have a long term, high cap hit contract. I would say it's fair to expect Iggy could bring back a blue chip prospect and a first rounder. |

I actually beg to differ, though. Feaster wants to keep the team competitive, and by moving Iginla (the highest scoring player) for draft picks/prospects, you become less competitive.
I think Feaster would hold out until he gets some NHL ready players coming back. |

I would argue that the Flames would still be competitive even without Iggy, but I know what you mean. You could be right too, he might get some NHL "ready" players, maybe some guys who are stuck in the systems and haven't got a legitimate shot to make the jump yet...IMO it could go either way...all depends on who the players coming the other way are. |

Where could he legitimately go?
NYR if Gaborik is injured.
Boston
Washington
Philly (but I don't know how the cap would work)
Maybe St. Louis, Detroit, or San Jose in the west... can't really see any of the other teams making sense.
What do you think we could get realistically from those teams? |

There is where I can see the Flames getting lucky on some moves as they have the space available for players to step in and get ice time in certain positions, where they could not with other teams. See: Cervenka.
Wonder if Erixon will want to step in and contribute right away |

I could see a nice fit in Pittsburgh
22man roster, 9.9M in cap space |

If they sign Semin (as rumoured) they wouldn't really have the cap space anymore. But yes, as of right now they'd be a good fit too.
Who could they package though? |

.....or Sutter and a First.
But ya I could see Pittsburgh, Philly, NYR. Lot's of places actually. Especially because he could also be used as a rental...only to re-sign with the Flames in the off-season. WIN WIN |

Best move for them is for him to sign a nice cap friendly contract, then move him. Unless of course there is current interest with his remaining contract.
But chances are he brings in more if signed for say 5 years where its frontloaded for 2-3. |

I think its going to be a combo of what Nash got. In reality, Ive had Nash in hockey pools, & quite frankly, he's sucked. Given the return, Columbus didnt do that bad. I was hoping we could target Dubinski ourselves, coming off a bad year, could have been had for cheaper. Erickson was a 1st rounder & still very young & already making the transition to the bigs & they get another 1st in a great draft coming up. I would suggest Columbus should parlay some of their 1st rounders & come out of this looking good & having cap flexibilty. Feaster may be able to pull that off as well. Piggy backing Whipper again, I got that distinct impression Feaster was trying to pry Ramo loose from the KHL at the feedback session. Perhaps that is what is holding up a 1 way deal with Irving. Another thing that stuck in my head was Feaster saying all his people Wiesbrod & Button have told him if you make any moves to make a splash at the draft, you should target for the 2013 draft, when asked in May if they were going to make moves to pick sooner. Feaster knows, if he needs a new star core, and they are big on drafting, 2013 is the time to start this obvious "rebuild" on the horizon. |

Sutter's another second line center though... and I really don't have a ton of interest in Kennedy. This team needs elite level skill. |

Even if it's true I can't see Dallas not matching. |

Although atleast Sutter has much more potential
Jamie Benn would be an amazing acquisition. |
