On what-division, conference?
Points are so bloody tough with the OT factor...
Calgary- 95 for 9th place
Edmonton - 88 for 11th...

Worst line up down the middle in the entire NHL!

They will finish last in the league and win the lottery, but Feaster will trade down to take a guy off the board at 20-25.

I'm still not sure why we let Jokinen walk away. Maybe Bouwmeester will bring back some type of Centerman. With the current lineup Cammalleri will be a center full time. He did a good job with the role last season.

Go play on Calgary Trail please. Think your Oil will achieve 4 in a row?? Then you can really come over here and trash talk.

Ah if you didnt notice...I live in Calgary poop for brains. I've tried to cheer for the Flames but they are boring, the saddledome sucks to watch games in and I get tired of listening to the delusions of Lames fans.

Delusional as in thinking that Nilson, Cogs and Gagne were your ticket to making the playoffs again?

Or delusional in thinking that the Oilers are going to accomplish anything with a terrible D-core and Dubnyk in net?

Seriously, when you guys actually are no longer the skid mark of the league, when you do something other than poop the bed year after year and "earn" that almighty first pick, THEN you get the right to spout off. Until then you're just another 'just wait till next year' Oilers troll... Go play on the Deerfoot Calgary boy...

The cross-trolling between Oilers and Flames fans is verging on pathetic. neither fan base should be crowing about anything.

Morning gents!

Seems as though Im going to have to gear my blogs toward better discussion....seems as though everything I post just ends up into a Oilers vs Flames debate...or more specifically...."You suck" "No YOU suck"....

I'd feel pretty bad breaking the Oilers streak... What will you guys have to look forward to in April if you don't get another 1st overall?
- jtommyt

2nd overall?

Colin, how about reminisce about yesteryear when the Flames built a Stanley Cup team through the draft and a few great trades. Feaster may pay attention and give in?

I strongly believe Feaster is going to be the patient GM and build through the draft. Take Jankowski for example, he could have taken a guy a year/two ahead of Mark but he saw more raw talent in Jankowski and went with him.

Where Feaster either makes or breaks it for me, will be what he can do with the three most coveted assets on the team; Jbo, Kipper, Iginla.

Regardless if you, as a fan, want a rebuild or to stay competitive, 2/3 of those guys need to be moved. The assets coming back will ultimately determine the direction of the team.

a) Young proven NHLers who can step in and help out immediately
b) high picks/prospects

I think one of those guys could still move this summer. The second might move at the TDL, but it will depend where we're at. If we're hovering in the 9-10 spot, I hope Feaster actually pulls the trigger this year.

Just wondering if this thought crossed your mind? Should we have either extended or moved Iginla at the draft ? So if heaven forbid we get a lockout & no hockey, what happens to Iginla? Do we burn his last year & he becomes a UFA when hockey starts again, I guess it would be the same as Perry & Getzlaff? If so, I guess he could walk & we get nothing back but another gaping hole in our top 6.

Do contract years count if they don't play? I don't remember.

I agree Kipper could bring back some real assets but with the return Nash got it scares the hell out me what Iggy would bring back. Probably better to keep him now.

You think?

Because frankly, whatever Iginla may bring back in a trade, will have more value to the team than him playing out the remaining years of his contract and either retiring or walking...

I did actually. And most teams will consider things like this, but as mentioned above I dont think it counts if theres a freeze. Iginla, in my opinion, may be the first to move...they are no doubt talking about extensions and or him accepting to be moved.

Feaster likely wants to sign him long term to finish out his career, although you have to think Jerome wants a cup...and his seasons remaining are now numbered.

I could see a sign and trade happen, this way it give Iginla the term and money he wants and it leaves it open for a few months. If the team is doing quite well, he stays, if they are doing ok or poorly, he agrees to move. Once Doan is gone too...Iginla should be the biggest fish come deadline....

Yeah I agree, if he's moved it will be at the deadline.

On another note a guy I work with knows Conroy (kids go to the same school) said that Feaster is trying like hell to get Ramo over here for this season. That tells me Kipper may be the first to go if Ramo actually gets over here this year.

Apparently the Nash deal helped out the Flames and also hurt them with respect to Iginla...although frankly, come deadline if Feaster does decide to move him, things will change.

Calgary has a dismal 7-14-1 record in Ohio, and Nash has victimized the Flames on many occasions....apparently there may be a few more W's in the column for the Flames
