I would be suprised if they do before the season starts.

They still see him as an asset, no matter what level of denial it is. And they will see if he can turn it around in the first few months, and maybe they can dump him at the deadline for 6th rounder if he plays halfways decent

They are going to give him another chance to prove he can play under a new coach and managment team and they are going to try and spin it into a positive.

If Gomez does not give atleast a half assed effort this season and he is as terrible as he was last year then he will be waived and sent down.

But if he does give an effort and he looks like he cares again, he could be flipped for whatever at the deadline.

But that is a lot of ifs.
