Why would the Oil want a Dman when we have 11 nhl ready D for 7 spots?

The deal would help Edmonton because it clears out Hemsky's salary, leaves our top 9 forward set. We have 5 D locked with 6 more battling for the bottom 2 spots.

I'm tired of the "Edmonton needs D help" cliche. Watch this group this year. I think they will gel and look pretty good.

we have 11 nhl ready D but how many of them are 5/6 guys?
We dont need to clear out hemskys salary because we arent even close to the cap and its only a 2 year deal. I agree that we arent as in trouble on the back as everyone says but if hemsky is traded its for a top 4 Dman because you cant have enough high end Dmen.

Klef is staying in sweden, Sutton is terrible, I like Fedun but let him play in AHL for a year, Potter is meh and peckam is basically hordi as a dman.
