The guys the Rangers gave up are very replaceable, and Erixon is not a future top two defense man at least not with the Rangers. Players like Nash don't grow on trees, he actually has players to play with now. The Rangers were the best team in the east before, they didn't give up any of their current good roster players, they will be a lot better, they had trouble putting the puck in the net last year. I don't see that as a problem for them now.

I think the contributions of Anisimov and Dubinsky are being overlooked. If the Sabres had been the ones receiving Dubinsky, everyone on these boards would be going nuts. Guy is a player.

Who has Nash played with there? I'm surprised he put up those points on that team. He will easily put up 70-80 points on a line with Richards and Gaborik. CBJ got taken. There is no discussion on that. If you think that's a decent return for Nash you are sadly mistaken.
- puttinonthefoil

maybe... but at the same time the fact that he wanted out and everyone knew he did it hurt their chances.. I wouldn't doubt it if CBJ turned down better offers back before the deadline becuase they felt liek they could do better and they are now realizing they can't and took what was left on the table

It's my opinion so, no, I am not sadly mistaken. Everyone is so focused on the "name " player here.

Dubi is a hell of a player, perhaps he had a down year, but he is captain material.

Who do the rangers have beyond their top 4 now? do they have a full roster or will they have to fill it out with scrubs to get under the cap?

Pegula will keep us good enough never to get great draft picks, but he will never land a superstar. Look at all the superstars that have moved around since he took over. How could we land none of them?

He is, but he's not worth Rick Nash, even after the crap the Rangers sent to Columbus along with him, not even close. How a GM doesn't start and end a deal like that with either of Stepan or Kreider is beyond me.

Dubinsky is a tweener. He is stuck in the middle of being a 2nd line player and a third line player. I respect his battle level but he has had one year of 50 points or more and makes 4.2M. Mostly all his seasons are in the low 40's for point totals. I would rather have Ott personally.

I would be going nuts - two 2nd line centers who get an average of 40 points, an AHL defenseman and a 1st. Robbery.

There are better players the blue jackets could have gotten. IMO the Rangers should have had to give up more. Kreider, Del Zotto, Steppan etc. those types of players. Not all of them, maybe two and a pick. Would have been a better trade for Howson. Hate the Rangers

Rangers traded players they didn't even want. I can't believe this was dragged out this long. I actually feel bad for Columbus. Rangers stole Nash. F*ck, good for them for them. Now lets get this sh*t moving!!
- FresHCutGrass

I agree. Rangers got to trade players they didn't even want for Rick Nash. They didn't want Dubinsky or Anisimov any more.

He's a superstar, and I'm not even ticked off that Buffalo didn't get him, but that's highway robbery, even if Howson's hand was forced.

LOL. Dubinsky did nothing for the Rangers last year. Two points in nine playoff games??? Very Connollyesque!

At least one of those guys should have gone the other way. It's like Howson's trying to get fired but the Blue Jackets won't do it just to spite him.

Nash is flavor of the day, Suter was the flavor of the day along with Parise, Richards, the other Richards, Carter and anybody else good who doesn't want to come here.

Columbus just screwed over Anaheim as well, setting the market for Bobby Ryan. If the rangers sent over two centres, a prospect and a 1st whats Ryans value ? sekera, ennis and a 2nd ?

It's time for Darcy to wave the white flag for the next couple years.

The Flyers, Rangers, Bruins and Penguins have positioned themselves as the teams to beat in the short term in the East.

The Sabres need to plan for 3 - 5 years to be the team those teams are now.

Trade Pominville, Vanek, Miller and Regehr for young players and futures that can support players like Grigs, Girgs and Coho in a couple of seasons.

I'm sick of our core anyways and I suspect a lot of fans would sign on for a total youth movement right now.

Nash deal does not negatively affect the Ducks at all. The Ducks, just like the Blue Jackets, dont have to trade the player, their contract is not expiring. If anything now that Nash is off the market that is one less high profile player available, thus boosting Ryan's stock. Not to mention Ryan's contract is way better.
