your way overrating Stastny ...... he had 1 good year (his rookie year) and had 2 ok years with injury problems. He also gets paid 6 million a year!

So basically hes derek Roy without the issues / higher cap hit!

No... he is not Derek Roy... They do have somewhat similar career stats.. the last 3 year Stastny is far and away better.. Stastny is a + defender.. and holds a 55% faceoff win percentage over his career which is top 10 in the NHL almost every year unlike Roy on those 2.

Another thing you need to know.. over the coarse of their entire career.. Stasnty has better stats than Vanek does.. FACT.

Stastny is much better in his own zone.. Stastny also seems to have twice as many takeaways as he does giveaways every year.. Stastny also has international experience.

Stastny is a pass first center which is ideal for Vanek and Pommer.

You can say Stastny's 3 70+ pt seasons were just blips on the map.. but look at who his forwards are that he got those stats with.. the likes of Hejduk, Wolski, Smyth, Svatos, Brunette, Jones, and Stewart. Of which I would take Vanek and Pommer over any of those but a younger Ryan Smythe is very good.
