Seriously, after all the great work that the Preds' organization has done, it has 3 or 4 playoff appearances to speak of, only two of which they went to the second round before being routed? It just is not working down there, particularly if they put the team in this position, regardless of whether they match or not. This is not what solid management does. The focus should not be on the Flyers being nasty and mean, but on the Nashville organization for letting this happen.

Listen, genius, we have 7 playoff appearances. 6 being post lockout. The last 2 were 2 round appearances. One went 6 games and the other went to 5. In none of those games were we routed. How do you figure it is not working here when we have been one of the more consistent teams of the past decade? Not to mention having a new minority owner signed on whose net worth is unfathomable.

You also forgot that Poile was trying to get Suter signed on throughout the course of the year. Suter was very misleading with his intentions and it ended up being more of a closer to home than money decision for him. In that same regard, not only was Poile trying to sign Suter, but had plans to have Weber and make an offer to Parise as well. Money is not as tight as you think anymore, bub. 7 to 10 years ago? Yeah, we'd be (frank)ed. Not the case anymore.

The only thing I can remotely agree with you on is that Poile dropped the ball on signing Weber as a lifer. Should have been done a long time ago. So here's a cookie for one smart thing that you said...

Phoenix has 2 top 5 picks in its history: Blake Wheeler, who didn't even sign with them, and Kyle Turris, who they traded after only 2 full seasons. Their only top 10 pick who has panned out to what you would expect from a top 10 pick is Ekman-Larsson. If you think Phoenix tanked to be where they are, maybe you're not the guy to be judging who deserves a franchise and who doesn't.

You are correct, but I never said any team tanked any thing. There is a difference between tanking and not being well managed but carried by the league which disguises the mismanagement. Phoneix is the poster child of being carried by the NHL.

The point I was trying to make, perhaps in artfully, is that the NHL system that allows teams that should not exist in the cities where they are located, to survive, partially at a cost to the other healthy teams in the league, is a bad system in my opinion and it is frustrating to hear fans of such places claim unfairness. Such cities already get more than enough special treatment, and enough is enough.

The bottom line is that Nashville only has itself to blame for this situation and no one else.
