What's better than all of the above is going after E Kane or Benn and sticking with the D we already have. If you're going for D by committee, why overpay for the youngest unproven addition? - GhostOfDCT
If Edler stays for 4.6 then I am ok ,if not , I want other options. We will see in his first 20 games what he is going to do .
Were not getting Benn or Kane so we need another option. We have a better shot at Doan who will be a 6.5 mil contract too. |

None of them are but that is the 2012 price list .Better than Sauve or Connauton and the bail out price. - VANTEL
For the regular season I'm happy with our roster as is. But Gillis better adjust this roster come TDL. You got to be able to switch gears for the second season. Canucks have not been able to do that consistently over the past few years. |

Edler has way to many brain farts to be 5.75 per for 7-8 years. - VANTEL
If Edler has too many brain farts, then Carlson should be wearing brain depends. Twice as many GvA... 3rd on his own D in even strength TOI yet the worst +/- by far. |

Think a trade would be better, money is not enough for them not to match |

Yesterday was a killer day for some street hockey on Granville St. And we kicked the rest of the country's ass. Had a great time playing first to infinity with some of the kids and their Dad's. Overall was an awesome day.
As far as offer sheets go. I offer sheet Kane to an 8 year 6.2m deal. Which the Jets would obviously match. Everyone thinks its crazy money and certain guys aren't worth certain contracts, but the reality is the cap went up 5.9m. Lock a guy like this in now if I'm Winnipeg or the Nucks.
Spencer Machacek would be good. I'm all for a few more right handed players. Always thought the Nucks needed that top three right winger to play with the Sedins. Bobby Ryan makes sense to me. I would include a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in both Kane and Ryan any day.
In the end I'm all for bringing BC boys home. Looking forward to seeing Mr. Garrison play. |

If we want to keep Edler and not upset the balance, structure his new contract with the same $4.5/$4.6 annual salary and compliment it with year 1 & 2 bonus
Year 1 - $4.5 salary + $3 bonus
Year 2 - $4.5 salary + $3 bonus
Year 3 - $4.5 salary
Year 4 - $4.5 salary
Year 5 - $4.5 salary
Total $28.5 million over 5 years = cap hit $5.7. Now you can say he is getting paid the same as Hamhuis (per year)...
I would stay away from the offer sheet, it almost never results in actually acquiring the player and almost always results in straining the relationship with other GM's. If you are serious about a player, go the Burke route with a trade discussion and an FYI, we will offer a contract if you don't sort this out. |

I know it's July but Gillis said we need to get younger bigger. I know he has tried but so far it is same ol same ol , I do like the draft and and I do like Garrison . Other than that, not moving Ballard ,resigning Raymond ,not retiring Manny and brining back AV has left a bitter taste in my mouth. So far I think Gillis is full of sh!t
I know if we went into the season like this we would end up still top 10 . I don't think we have enough to make a deep run so I am waiting impatiently ( as always) for the next move. I think after this Doan fiasco is over we will see some movement. |

Remember the Flyers offer sheet to Kesler, $2 million I think for a player that we wanted to lock up for half that? Jets would match and any future opportunity to trade with them would be lost. |

Why so ? Philly OS Kesler and we would still trade with them. |

So, here are the numbers, Kesler was qualified at just less than $600k and the Flyers offered him a 1 year $1.9 contract, which Vancouver matched in two days.
Aside from Sean Burke, when was the last time we completed a trade with the Flyers? |

I'm hearing 2 year deal with avv of $1.75M ($3.5M) and bonuses up to 92k for Tyler Ennis, still looking for verification.

Hey if Leafs fans can think that Komi and Kadri have value to get all star players, Canucks fans are allowed to believe that Raymond can get a guy who has only played 23 NHL games. - IanEsplen
Look you never want to compare yourself to leafs fans about Komi and Kadri. Your better then that! |

I hope Philly does get him . Ties their hands for the next little while.
So if this does go down and Philly is out of the Doan race and NYR are going after Nash according to EK
Does that mean we are in the Doan's favorite choice |

Ian do you not understand? It will have to be almost Weber epic to get a player from an offer sheet. You wil have to pay so much that it is either cap circumvention (not the case in Weber) or pay so much front loaded that the team is unable to financially match. Or also just have such a ridiculous high cap hit that there wont be a match.. Hope that clarified for you |
