I still see no reason why we have to force a 'gratton trade' with Nashville. - KGBflyers10
It would be a case of the Preds saying they will match unless the Flyers make it worth their while to decline.

The worst thing that happens is that Weber doesn't come to the East for another full calendar year. - KGBflyers10
Plus the Flyers save a ton of money. They can still upgrade at the deadline and look to make the team better next offseason. Its not like the Flyers are going into the season with a bad team. |

I think he would retire a Pred TBH. No way do they let him leave after one season, esp with the payment of 27 mil in one season |

I think a trade is beneficial to the flyers for the very reason they need to give themselves some breathing room. capwise. You get weber without moving anyplayers and there's a logjam on the blueline. |

if hendrix were alive, he could have headlined a festival there, too. - hammarby31
The curse of 27. It's a strong curse. Robert Johnson, Hendrix, Morrison, Cobain... gone way too early.
Then you also had no talents like Joplin, and Winehouse as well...

Then you throw a few d-men their way. I'm biased though, I'm in love with JV and what he brings. I think him and Giroux are one of the quickest thinkers on the ice when they have the puck. |

That is the flip side. Moving a asset out provides more wiggle room for the Flyers in case of needs.
Who knows, maybe Weber in O&B gives Doan a woody to come here and tap in passes from G-sus |

The other thing too is, if the do get Weber for picks only, I can't imagine the Flyers can resign Jake, MAB, and not be over the cap. They'll probably have to move some guys out anyways. Could they get a better return for Jake + Mez than their own first rounders? Maybe... But I think the better value would be combined in ensuring Nashville doesn't match. If the Flyers won't give any players, Nashville may have already worked out that matching is best for their franchise, as the 4 picks aren't worth enough. By getting players, the situation may teeter to the point where they decide that way is the best course (they are competitive sooner, thus offsetting some fanbase loss). Again, we probably would need to move some guys anyways. May as well give guys to Nashville |

I wonder if there is anyway the Flyers can make this a mega-deal and swap Bryzgalov for Rinne. In that instance I would give up Couturier or Schenn... |

Not yet, I have been obsessing on the Live From Daryl's house jams lately. Some great musicians playing with Daryl Hall. Fantastic stuff. |
