Absolutely not. He's a complete hack.
Although he did write a good article in today's Sunday Inquirer. - MJL
I like carchidi.... but he doesn't have a lot of 'inside' info IMO. I don't think he's a hack. |

If that was true, a trade would have already been made. The Offer Sheet was sent because an honest deal couldn't be brokered between the two parties, and reached a compromise where both sides are happy with the outcome. So who is going to cater to the other side and bite the bullet? Who is going to win out? Are the Flyers going to be willing to pay more then the want to? If they're willing to do so and meet Poile's price. Why didn't they do so before sending the Offer Sheet?
Or is Poile going to give in and take less then he wants in return for Weber?
Something has to break here, if a deal is going to be made. One side or the other has to give in. - MJL
Reports are a little different on what happened on the last day.
Some reports suggest the Preds were close to trading Weber to another team so the Flyers dropped the mega offer sheet to stop another deal.
Other reports say the Preds began to talk to other teams after Holmgren told them an offer sheet was coming.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Both sides know what Weber is worth. You cannot abuse or bluff each other. If Holmgren offends Nashville owners or Poile they will match out of self interest and spite. But if Holmgren is wise and generous, he makes his team the leading Cup contender. |

Meh. Not a fan. I find him unprofessional and not especially knowledgeable about the sport. I think he's more guilty of the TMZ stuff than anyone. |

Absolutely you can bluff and abuse each other. What do you think the Offer Sheet is all about. It's about abusing and bullying Nashville.
I keep making the same statement, which you haven't responded to.
If Holmgren was willing to be wise and generous, why didn't he just do so and up his offer to get Weber, and meet Nashville's asking price, before going the Offer Sheet route? |

i dont think he will insult them, but he will and always has had a bottom line when it came to this off season..NOT TRADING ANYONE NAMED COURTIER OR SCHENN..That being said I do think a trade is worked out and who knows maybe they take the picks and turn it into something tangible that the fans can get behind |

I agree. Holmgren is willing to give them a solid package in return for them not matching.

One name and one name only. Bill Meltzer. None of the local writers that cover the team are any good.

They've talked one time since Weber signed the offer sheet so either they're going to match or if they dont i guess will cross that bridge when we get there |

I think bill is great. More knowledgeable and less biased than anyone I can think of. Comparing everyone to bill pretty much means everyone else sucks.... so I see where you are coming from. |

Eskin does a good job at getting info, but he doesn't know the sport that well.
Meltzer is the one I read first, although I read most of the others, too. I think Leed does a good job for a guy that isn't a regular beat guy. Dave Issac does a good job too. |
