That is incredible that nobody got wind of that.

I wonder if Snyder shut down an airport. In today's age of technology, it is really incredible.

I wonder if GM of the year would include finding ways to sign players that other teams wouldn't think of/attempt.. Including using offer sheets, or front loading contracts. If Holmgren did stand pat, and walked away with Weber for only the draft picks, would that be something for GM of the year since everything was in the rules and he found a way to make his team drastically better? Or would they never "condone" this stuff with an award because its considered a "no-no" to do that kind of stuff..

What's changed in the situation in 4 days? The points the article brings up are relevant. There is a very good chance that Nashville matches the offer.
- MJL

I don't know MJL. I'm pretty sure when a respected hockey professional says a player wants out, then his agent says he wants out (while saying "oh, but if Nashville matches, that'd be ok too" so not to embarrass them), then word comes out that as soon Nashville found out about the offer they tried to move him exhaustively, then another of his agent says we haven't even spoken to Nashville since the offer, then Kypreos blantantly says it can't happen. Every objective journalist has been leaning towards, in some cases heavily, towards Nashville not matching. The ones that aren't: Nashville writers, broadcasters, and those that cover other organizations. So yes, an article 4 days old, while making good points, may not be a great representation of the CURRENT situation. End of story.

Just like many Flyers fans who are emotionally involved in this, are finding any reason for Nashville not to match. Two way street.

And I didn't see anything in the posters opinions that was out of line, or that was unrealistic.

The point the poster made and the article he referenced has zero to do with what team he is a fan of.

Not even some tweets. Pretty amazing.

From a purely business perspective it almost always means both sides are happy with the way things are progressing. I think they are putting the ribbon on the package and by Wednesday both teams will be expressing their enthusiasm for the deal. For a couple of days some Flyer fans might complain about having given up too much but that will pass as they begin to realize how well the team is able to compete.

Well the big market GMs probably secretly love this move, and the players association also should love this move..........small market teams, not so much *Borat voice*

Just a gut feeling. But the particulars and the options presented to the Predators hasn't changed in the 4 days.

They are still the same, and are

1) match the offer
2) decline the offer, and take the pick
3) decline the offer and work out a trade.

So in terms of what the article was discussing, what has changed?

- MJL

How do you know? Are you privy to the conversations? Are you HockeyyInsiderr? Can you make any of those assumptions based on these articles? Do you have Nashville's financial statements? Do you know what their cash flow will be in 6 years? How do you quantify a gut feeling? How do you know there isn't a 4th option or even a 5th option? Is my version of a blue sky the same as yours? If so, how do you know? Do you have a link or source or any actual proof that my perception of blue is the same as yours?

If Nashville had the money and signing Weber wouldnt affect their ability to ice a competitive team this match would be done. I would of sent it in to the NHL office in the same day. Where talking about Shea (frank)ing Weber here.

My sense is Homer's untouchables would be the following:

-G
-Both Schenns
-Coots

Obviously, due to contract terms other players on the roster wouldn't be able to be traded, or Poile would have minimal interest.

They listened to trade offers before the OS came out. That doesn't mean they were "exhaustively" trying to move him. In fact, I think Nashville's preference all along has been to keep Weber. Not trade him.

There have been plenty of journalists that think that Nashville will match. Your assuming that those connected to Nashville, aren't objective. That's a false assumption. And your also assuming that his Agent is just saying he'd be okay staying in Nashville, is just to not embarrass them, is also just an assumption on your part.
The article summed up the situation perfectly.

Having an opinion that most of the Flyers fans don't share, or one that is unpopular. Doesn't make the poster a troll.

@sbaickerCSN ..And further, while Poile and Holmgren are OF COURSE in touch this week, that BS Insiderr should never be cited by anyone, especially WIP!

Didn't Weber want a 3 year 21M dollar deal last summer? Nashville didn't want to commit to that number? I really can't remember so I thought you might know.

Not saying its going to happen or even implying its a possibility but I'm curious whether if Weber refuses to play in the next 4 years whether he's eligable for the 50 + million in Bonuses anyway? I remember a similar situation between Heatley and Ottawa regarding a signing bonus he was eligable for whether he reported to camp or not.

You don't need to be an insider to know that. They aren't assumptions. Knowing the rules of the CBA, they are the options available to the Predators in this deal. Nor do I need to have Nashville's financial statements to know that.
The rest of comments, not relative.

I've heard that. But again, what are the particulars of the deal? How much money was upfront. And what were the reasons for not getting the deal done. I don't know the answers to that.
