Has anyone confirmed the meeting going on right now between Preds and Flyers brass? Is this guy usually reliable? http://twitter.com/HockeyyInsiderr/

I would think that Nashville would rather pay out money to reach the Cap floor to players that have a future with the team.
- MJL

For a team that is apparently strapped for cash I think adding a few one year deals after this fiasco they did not see coming isn't the worst idea. Do you really want to spend money re-signing guys to multiyear deals just because theyre already on the roster? If they lose Weber they should stock up on one year deals and make the best money decisions the following season.

On another note. I hope theyre on the phone with Semin. They need something to sell to their fans at this point.

Yes that is the part of the puzzle people seem to be forgetting.Everybody is talking about if they can afford it but do you want to put your finances in a guy who doesn't want to be there cause then your going to have a Columbus situation with a guy that makes alot more in bonuses in bet
- nonpoint22

It wouldn't be a Columbus situation. Weber would have no problem playing out his career in Nashville.

Touche..No I actually liked that trade at the time but to think that JVR could be the big piece in this supposed "trade" is food for thought
- nonpoint22

Don't know if you can look at it that way. Can still have Weber without JVR, but couldn't have Schenn without him.

There are plenty of better players available for one year deals then Walker and Shelley.

They can get a bunch of picks, maybe players, trade for JBO/Ryan.............or they can wait till next year UFA with guys like Perry/Getzlaf/Iginla........plenty of avenues to go if they decide Weber isnt the best direction to go...

I agree. I'm just saying that in the interrum, being that so little good UFAs are left taking on one year cap dumps certainly isnt out of the realm of possibility.

Yes, he would definitely prefer playing in Philadelphia then in Nashville. That's pretty clear.

Because we are not involved and realistic about the situation.
- Habs Rule

Of course you're involved. To say you aren't is ludicrous. You are a fan who is seeing a major rival to your team, which has pummeled your team in the playoffs over the last few years, possibly acquiring the best defenseman in the NHL. You would obviously try to find any reason for Nashville to match. It's not supernatural, but don't pretend you aren't "involved" or are "realistic".

Btw, it's amazing how many extremely important and respected CPA's have so much time to post on this site. I seem to remember when working for Morgan Stanley that I had zero time to do anything, hence why I left the financial industry.

What if there is no season or weber gets injured?
- Philly1980

The point is that Nashville has the money to protect its assets. The dude is an investment banker who specializes in high risk strategies. This is the guy you think is going to role over and cave. Not a chance.

But, I think Nashville wants to do a deal. I think they know they have to rebuild. So, Holmgren is going to make them a fair offer and I believe they will take it. And, I believe the Flyers start the season as odds on favorite to win the Cup.

Heck, not even a leak that Weber was in Philly visiting. I think this negotiating is between the GMs and managing partners of both clubs. Everyone else just stay away from the door.

Oh yea for sure.....if Im Nashville and a trade happens with philly, getting Jake or MEzzy or Read, whatever it is, plus picks, I can get over losing Weber pretty quickly......Lindros was my favorite player all time, but you move on

Nash will be in a great position to add to their club post Weber if thats the way it goes

Just like many Flyers fans who are emotionally involved in this, are finding any reason for Nashville not to match. Two way street.

And I didn't see anything in the posters opinions that was out of line, or that was unrealistic.

I believe most Flyers fans believe a deal involving players will be done by both clubs if Weber is acquired. Also, I do believe there are a couple of untouchables on the roster that Homer doesn't want to include in any package. Hence, the reason we are sitting with an offer sheet for Weber.

Definately is a two way street. The Preds have the opportunity to match this offer. People are posting opinions and speculations but will have the answer by Wednesday night.
