In a perfect world they wouldnt touch are offense at all Mez and MAB and three first and I would be thrilled...Cause if you trade Read or Jake then you HAVE to overpay to get Doan...Frankly stay away from my fowards

I think they'll want the 2013 and 2014 picks. The others are too far out to help them. Holmgren might try to keep the pick in the year the draft is here tho.

Touche..No I actually liked that trade at the time but to think that JVR could be the big piece in this supposed "trade" is food for thought

yes, great point!

would a top 4 of Weber Coburn Scenn & Grossman be good enough?

with Kimmo playing a part time role until the playoffs

I think that a pretty good top four and who knows what the would do with the cap money saved from Mez cap hit...I Dunno there are so many scenarios being tossed around I think it going to make my head spin

What upper hand? Nashville will match, end of story.

The more I think about it, I just hope the Flyers play the take it or leave it game with Nashville and risk losing Weber. I do not love the lines as is:

Hartnell Giroux Voracek
Simmonds Briere Schenn
Fedotenko Couterier Read
Wellwood Talbot Rinaldo

Tell Poile this: "You had your chance (in trade scenarios), but you thought it would be more fun to insult me. Well now it is my turn wise-ass."

Can always sign Doan without giving up a player.

im responding to your comment about why he would sign the deal if he didnt want to be in nashville. it was reported by dreger that the preds knew of the offer sheet early wednesday. its not out of the question that poile and weber had a conversation about the offer and shea signed it with assurances that it wouldnt be matched.
- flyershockey

There's no way that Poile would tip his hand to Weber and assure him that it wouldn't be matched. Poile would be lowering his leverage in a trade scenario.

First off, you post a story from over 4 days ago which is laughable with everything that has come out. Secondly, if you want to find out what's truly going on and use old articles read Dreger's comments on TSN. Lastly, it has been hilarious seeing that Nashville fans have seemed to accept what is happening here, but the people that seem to think there will be a match are Devils, Penguins, Rangers, Leafs, and Habs fans. Hmmmmm, I wonder why?

I think he doesn't want to play there anymore because of the comments the agents made over the last couple of days to multiple broadcasts...Remember agents work for the players so if the agents started saying some of the things they have been saying trying to angle him toward philly ..I am sure it was scripted and with Weber blessing
- nonpoint22

His Agent has also said that Weber would have no problem playing out his career in Nashville.

i think he would eventually try to force a trade out of there if they match.

that article where his agent was quoted saying Nashville is home, etc, was followed by one on the 20th with the agent specificially calling for a "clarification" that Weber wants to play in Philly.

- Crimsoninja

It's been said all along that Weber would prefer going to Philly.

I think you need to learn to read. Nash as the cash. Also, it's called an investment. I'm a CPA paid multiple six figures to guide my clients in making such simple decisions. Matching is a no brainier and it will be my pleasure to come back here in a few days to say told you so.

i love the broad brush comments from guys like cox that say "can't sustain" if the preds don't match. of course they can. will they be as good? of course not. but to suggest it means imminent disintegration because they lost 2 good players is silly. what would the perception be if suter and weber were lost in an accident of some kind. would people be saying the blanket statements about the franchise they're saying now if they don't match the offer? i doubt it. what's far more serious is the potential financial burden of fielding a competitive team around them, let alone staving off bankruptcy.

the fact that the nhl has rebuffed a hearing based on cap circumvention grounds and said their coffers aren't open also suggests this is far from an automatic decision for the owners.

What's changed in the situation in 4 days? The points the article brings up are relevant. There is a very good chance that Nashville matches the offer.
