Poile let Weber know he wouldn't match? Where are you getting this info from?
- MJL

im responding to your comment about why he would sign the deal if he didnt want to be in nashville. it was reported by dreger that the preds knew of the offer sheet early wednesday. its not out of the question that poile and weber had a conversation about the offer and shea signed it with assurances that it wouldnt be matched.

Go back even further and remember they had a nasty arbitration hearing... You just were a Norris Finalists and your are geting low balled by a team that you never did anything off the ice to deter them..I know business is business but that has to stick in your crawl a bit doesn't it
- nonpoint22

your right! forgot about that.

arbitration will do that

If Weber didn't want to play in Nashville anymore, why would he sign a deal where the result could be he is signed to play in Nashville for the next 14 years?
- MJL

maybe because he now sees how easy it is to force a trade ala Rick Nash

I think a player understands the Arbitration process and how it's going to work. They know that a low ball offer is going to be made, going in.

I'm pretty confident roster players will be going back to the Preds. Young guys who weren't even regulars on the roster might have to step up this year. Guys like Manning and Cousins might have to take on roles on the big club this year. After last year, I feel confident the Flyers have decent organizational depth that young unproven guys can make the leap and be contributors this year in supporting roles.

Of course he's hoping to force the outcome of going to the Flyers. But I don't believe that he is against remaining with Nashville.

i agree, thats what makes this situation hard to evaluate..he visited a few teams and only signed the flyers, which leads me to believe that homer and poile have talked about it and homer did inform him what his intentions were
- mydoglicks

I think he doesn't want to play there anymore because of the comments the agents made over the last couple of days to multiple broadcasts...Remember agents work for the players so if the agents started saying some of the things they have been saying trying to angle him toward philly ..I am sure it was scripted and with Weber blessing

Can Jake be traded?
he's still an RFA, why would they trade an RFA and accept another?
just from there standpoint of having to go through that rights away

- puckhead17

Yes, he can be traded.

i think he would eventually try to force a trade out of there if they match.

that article where his agent was quoted saying Nashville is home, etc, was followed by one on the 20th with the agent specificially calling for a "clarification" that Weber wants to play in Philly.

If there demands don't come down....maybe.....but my gut tells me San Jose cause they seem to be willing to part with some younger assets like Pavelski

agreed
same situation, a small market GM, trying for a "Lindros type return" for a top tier player.

That wants out

I'm willing to go further than I wnted to yesterday. Voracek, Meszaros, 2014 and 2015 1st rd picks
- jstross

that'd be like 3 1sts and a 2nd in value and of course it's more than that because there are 2 sure things and ~ 8MM in cap space.

I really dont want to trade jake if i could...honestly if I could pay Jake 3.5 a season or Doan 4.5 I would take jake....nothing against Doan I would love to have himm but at his age and with his heart still in Phoenix and Jake showed signs last year of a player about break loose..

I think they'll want the 2013 and 2014 picks. The others are too far out to help them. Holmgren might try to keep the pick in the year the draft is here tho.

In a perfect world they wouldnt touch are offense at all Mez and MAB and three first and I would be thrilled...Cause if you trade Read or Jake then you HAVE to overpay to get Doan...Frankly stay away from my fowards
