if the preds were going to match today, it would not require a call with homer, the nhl would announce it, if there is a call it would be to work a trade, if they dont match i hope they just take the pics.

weber does not want to play in nash anymore, its obvious, so y would thye want to pay an unhappy player 60 mil over the next 3 years and keep him for 14 if he does not want to be there.

my hope is if they do work a trade it leaves room to sign doan also

also if they match, they would have to shell out like 30 mil in the next 11 months to rinne and weber

If Weber didn't want to play in Nashville anymore, why would he sign a deal where the result could be he is signed to play in Nashville for the next 14 years?

Change Malkin to Crosby, let another team win once every 5 years, just to keep it interesting, and you're onto something
- TheGreat28

Done.
I think getting married shout work via offer sheet. You summit s ring(offer sheet) to the girl. Her parents have one full week to match(accept) or decline. If they decline they must buy her a new car
And they stop dating immediately and can't again for one Calender year

One posibility - He figured like Nash, Bobby Ryan, Luongo, etc that as long as he makes a stink and demands a trade he could get out of Nashville and still get paid?

I said this earlier:

My thought, weber and the agent know what Nashville can afford. Flyers offer sheet him in a way that makes it very difficult to match. Last chance before new CBA so Weber is going to accept the sheet cause he's set for life. I think he could want out and play in Philly but he's also played his entire career in Nashville so in the end it's a win win for Weber. I think he would love to leave and come here but it won't hurt him to be stuck in Nashville either at this asking price.

Two words: Financial security. His amount of pay out with the offer sheet probably wouldn't have been available in the new CBA. I think he prefers to play in Philly, but can live playing in Nashville for the cash pay out of the offer sheet.

thats the main issue of this, they have so many free agents between this & next year, aside from paying so much for 2 players?

I think that is the jist of it. Except for the part about what Nashville can afford. They certainly know what Nashville wanted to offer him.

You would think if Homer was trying to make a trade with the Preds before the OS went in that the Preds would of asked atleast for one of Schenn or Couturier if Homer was unwilling to trade both.
- stveshdy

I dont think he would trade either and he shouldn't

I agree with most but I believe he wants to go to a team that can win a cup Nashville isn't, more so if they match the offer sheet...he knows that and I think it isn't that he doesn't want to play in Nashville I think he wants to play for a big market team and he decided on the Flyers

even back to the Suter negotiations with the Preds, nothing was ever in the press, all we heard was Poile wants to keep him, thinks he'll stay, but we never heard of $ offers or terms or anything being offered or turned down, until the Wild offered $, then the Preds would give him the same.
same with Weber, they love & need him, but nothing was ever reported of being offered or turned down, seems strange.
Usually something gets or leaks out.

No doubt, along with wanting to get a long term front loaded contract before the CBA changes.

Considering the upcoming draft is supposedly pretty deep in talent, my assumption one of the first rounders would be next year.

i agree, thats what makes this situation hard to evaluate..he visited a few teams and only signed the flyers, which leads me to believe that homer and poile have talked about it and homer did inform him what his intentions were

Go back even further and remember they had a nasty arbitration hearing... You just were a Norris Finalists and your are geting low balled by a team that you never did anything off the ice to deter them..I know business is business but that has to stick in your crawl a bit doesn't it

Can Jake be traded?
he's still an RFA, why would they trade an RFA and accept another?
just from there standpoint of having to go through that rights away
