From a flyers fan perspective, the Sabres are a bit of a joke. If they are lucky to make the playoffs, then they will easily be defeated in the first round.
I do like Miller, but feel bad for him. The team went into disaster mode and tried to buy a team to get over the hump. Problem is they werent that close.
I would scrap the team and start over. And adopt the new jersey devils model. Start with defense first (team defense). Build through the draft. Try to develop some superstars and lock them up. It is very tough for a team like Buffalo which is by no means a destination city. Need to get creative and not waste money on the Leinos of the world. - Daman
You must not really be paying attention, because this is exactly what the Sabres always do. Draft players, develop them, and now that they have a new owner, when the player is due for a big contract, they have the funds available to actually sign them now.
The Sabres have more defensemen than they know what to do with right now because they know how important that role is. |

I'm wondering if Doan will be visiting with the Sabres on Sunday......

Why don't you just ask your sources within the organization.....oh wait, nevermind |

I read this thread often, rarely if ever post and enjoy plugging into the good banter.
Could help myself - Time for a post. Of all the post I've read after years of silently participating, I have never laughed as hard. Someone from Philly pointing out that Buffalo isn't much of a destination.
My Philly memory . . .
Strolling down town Philly (in the good area so says my brother who lives there), I side-stepping a religious freak yelling into a bullhorn that I'm going to H, while pasing a homeless village, I push through the crowd getting a lots of neighborly love with multiple F-Ys by the friendly residents - I ask my brother, "What's that stink" and he explains " there's a sewer sludge issue that requires pipes from the ground to release gas pressure" and just like street lights in Buffalo, I see pipes 10 ft above ground scattered through-out spewing filth for all to enjoy. Fortunately my brother lives in a upscale burb so we escape with a fun 10 mile, two hour trip stuck in traffic on a highway that is bigger and uglier than anything I've ever seen back to my brothers house that cost twice as much as mine within a town that looks like a older version of West Seneca, NY.
Unless you like cheesesteaks, better than wings I'm not sure Philly has anything over Buffalo. Just saying - SuperMighty

Ruff doesnt coach the PP ...... the assistant coach does!
and when Ruff had drury / Briere they ran basically the same system ..... it was only excuted worse / looked more defensive since Roy was your "top" center the past few years! - buffalofan1027
Ruff is in charge of the PP. That is one of those most misunderstood things in hockey. He's the boss, everything runs through him.

The best coaching highlight from last year, I cant remember the game, someone help me, it was when we hadn't won 2 games in a row in like forever, and we got on the PP in overtime. Kevyn Adams grabs the clip boards and starts going (frank)ing crazy. He was possesed, and Lindy awkwardly stood in the background. The boys went out and scored on Kevyn's plan. Adams went so nuts he almost punched Kevyn off the bench.
Give me a minute I'll try to find the highlight. |

Its was vs/ the Canes on 3/7, none of the youtube highlights show the timeout before the goal. It was epic. |

At this point, I could care less if Doan comes to Buffalo (which he most likely won't). I'd rather see Darcy trade for something.
Don't get me wrong, I love Doan as a player but there are other guys to be had out there who, unlike Doan, are closer to the beginning of their career than the end of it.
Hell, at this point we may not even have a season unless everyone stops crying & agrees on a new CBA. - cowmad152
Here's what I think. (not that you asked )
I think the Sabres have a trade(s) on the table, but it hinges on what happens with Shane. If the Sabres sign Doan, I could see them moving a defenseman and a top 6 forward and pick/prospect for a larger piece. I don't think they would be able to move such a forward (top 6) without having Doan in the fold, as they would further weaken their depth. |
