A Canadian league filled with the NFL's crumbs when it comes to players.
- broadstreet11

So you are saying that the US only produces enough good football players to fill out the NFL's current list of teams. With the popularity of football in the US I thought they would be able to produce more then just a few hundred players. Says a lot about the football development system in the US.

Ditto.
It is being suggested that this is the reason some players do not have Vancouver as a preferred destination.

- Marwood

I would think he is part of the reason .

The difference between CFL and NFL is in the last three minutes of any quarter the CFL has 3 or 4 scoring chances, while the NFL has 14 commercials 6 time outs and move the ball a total of 10 yards. NFL is so much better
- VANTEL

I'd love it if all NA sports either reduced the timeouts to 1 or 2 or abolished them all together. Basketball is (frank)ing retarded with the amount of TOs. Who's playing the game, the coaches or the players?

If I had to throw it out there, I'd say Kesler, Burrows, and maybe Lappy would be the reason.

To me it looked like the fans ,media and team got tired of his antics. I have no problem with him being a prrick it's the diving and yapping that gets to me.
- VANTEL

It's probably more about the yapping. Every team/player dives to draw penalties. If players did not like their teammates diving then there wouldn't be a professional soccer league in England.
Everything can be overlooked if you are winning.

When I watch professional sports I want to watch the top talent in the world not mediocre level. Sadly the top talent in the CFL is usually some NFL reject who is like 35.

I think Preds should trade. He doesn't want to be there and it would cripple the franchise matching or letting him walk for 4 late first rounders.
- VANTEL

Problem is the Flyers dont have good players to trade for the worth of Weber since they dont wanna move the Schenns and Coutourier. Preds might be better off working theyre magic with the picks and do a bit of a rebuild. They still got tons of talent on its way.

Vancouver should just be happy to get rid of the Luongo contract, he isn't the goalie he once was and is no longer and elite goalie plain and simple. The reason Luongo is still in vancouver is because no1 will pay to get him! These deals with Versteeg or even Nash coming back are pipe dreams.

Also Ian I saw you stated that Raymond> Brassard, I get that you like the canucks but let's be honest here Brassard is the way better player. He's a younger higher pick with more skill and for the past 2 seasons has put up better points on a much worse team. No1 sees much value in Raymond especially after last year and is way more of a gamble than Brassard.

I agree with this. With 4 more first round picks over the next 4 years plus the first round picks Nashville already has that gives them 2 first round picks for each of the next 4 years. So they will be stocked up on top quality prospects over the next 4 years with 8 first rounders coming in

I wouldn't do it for Carlson. Benn yes, I'd do 10 years if that's the only way we can get him. I'd try to reduce the cap hit to like 5 or 5.5 and front load the sh!t out of it with bonuses so Dallas would have issues matching.

They were advertising $9 tickets last March. How much money can that franchise have?

- AlexF

Really? Carlson is a better player.

I like both leagues... not a HUGE fan of football in general... but I follow it and watch a game or 2 on Sundays and like to see how the Lions are doing.

The CFL rules are better... 3 downs lead to quicker plays... more passing... and a bit more back n forth. NFL is like... run 3 yards... pass 6 yards... run 2 yards... 1st down. Alot of commercial breaks... alot of time outs it seems... just seems to be a lot of down time in the NFL compared to the CFL.

That being said... the CFL as a league.. is a joke... 8 teams? Come on... if I started a backyard league tomorrow... I could have 8 teams by next week. The talent level isn't nearly up to par with the NFL.. you have many guys in the CFL who are like 5'6 160 pounds being dominent players.. quarterbacks who are like 5'11 and are starters. There are some NFL players who have a difficult time making the transition to CFL rules though.. and its not a slam dunk that a good NFL player would be an instant star in the CFL.

Ever heard of Cameron Wake?
The CFL can't keep its own home grown stars. Not the CFL's fault that players get paid more on an NFL practice roster then they do on CFL main rosters. Doesn't mean the canadian game worse. Just different.

Carlson would be a great deal. RHD would give a lot of options.

You would also have to move Edler and Ballard .Edler could be the center piece for our top 6 forward trade. Edler Luongo for Sharpe Leddy

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Booth Kesler Sharp
Jensen Lappiere Hansen
Volpatti/Pinizzotto Manny Kassian

Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Carlson
Leddy Tanev

Schneider
Ellis

Offer sheet him Carlson

- VANTEL

What world do you live in where Edler and Luongo are worth Sharp and Leddy?? Sharp is by far the best player in the trade and leddy in his rookie year put up 37 points. Edler is good but in a career year didn't break 50 points Leddy easily has that potential and is much younger. So basically you wanna trade Luongo who's old and has a terrible contract + Edler( solid offensive d man) for Sharp a 30 goal scorer and Leddy a stud rookie d man. Sorry no chance any GM in hockey ever makes that trade!

IMO the NFL is a better game ...the slower play does not bother me at all because it makes the big plays that much more dynamic and exciting. When it comes down to the CFL I usually just watch the Grey Cup and that's it...because like you said, I myself can't get interested in a league with lower level talent and 8 teams.

How do you explain your love for BRYZ then

So by your explanation you would rather see the best players in the world stand around and do nothing instead of some very good atheletes play an exciting game

Disagree. But also Benn is the player we need now, Carlson would be a great addition but doesn't fill a hole on the roster.
