I think it was a brilliant plan by the Flyers and sort of jealous it wasn't us that did it. The fact is Poille should have had his franchise player locked up long before he was offer sheet prone. Poille also failed on Suter and should have locked him up or moved him by last years TDL.The NHL offers out awards for managers of the year . They should offer Poille an award for worse manager of the year.

poile has been pissing around too much and yeah he put himself in a bad position, especially with suter, who i feel made it very known he didnt want to stay. however, i do feel he can only do so much sometimes with players that dont want to stay. personally, weber should have already been moved to the highest bidder if he could have. i just think the notion of rigging the contracts like this has to stop or there will be problems for the league.

How much would be to much for Washington. Also, How much is to much for the Canucks? I'm thinking it'd have to be 6+ for Washington to not match and is that to much for the Canucks? Given the amount of discounts currently on the team?
- Boinker

I have no problem if they offer him a Weber like contract at 6.5 per

Boinker u seem to be/or think you are the Schroader pro. What is he like on faceoff%
- Bieksa#3

I mean. From what I saw(only limited time) and from what I've heard, he's improved in almost every area. I'm pretty sure well over 50% I can't find his actual faceoff percentage anywhere though. Honestly he has intangibles to go along with his skill level. He's gonna be an impact NHL player for a long time. I noticed that he'd create so many opportunities for his line mates but no one could cash in. He's like Jensen in that he'll be better with better talent around him. Last year he was on par with Hodgson in terms of pre season performance. He was a casualty. This season he will impress.

I like offer sheets. Owners and GMs have been screwing each other from the beginning of the NHL .They have always done it in a less obvious way . Offer sheets are an admittance of hey pal bend over and take this.

Third youngest captain in NHL history at the age of 20. Toews won the Stanley Cup in 2010, along with the Conn Smythe Trophy for the playoff MVP. After winning the Cup, Toews passed Peter Forsberg as the youngest player to join the Triple Gold Club.

i wouldnt call any team that has J Toews sh*t, hes got more heart than the sisters, kesler. lou, burrows combined
- TheFondler

So you are saying if Toews had a make up game against the Sedins Burrows Kesler and Luongo he would win.

Would you like to wager on this?

Your team isn't the dream team of three years ago. Your team actually needs a goalie now. you'd be a cup contender with Lu....Right now? Your teams sh*t.
- Boinker

Not likely. Need much more than a goalie to be a legit contender, and wouldn't be able to fill the other holes with Lu's anchor contract on the books. Not that our GM has shown any interest in filling those holes.

The problem Ogi is there are very few players to fill those holes . Seems like everyone needs a top 4 D and centers and goalies but the talent pool available is greatly outweighed by the demand.

I don't mind the idea of offer sheets and I give Holgren max respect for "going for it." That said, I think all these proposals would get matched without too much difficulty.

As I noted yesterday my pick would be Benn. Victoria boy, versatile (can play C or W), playmaker and scorer. This guy is the real deal and I think is exactly what we'd need on that 2nd line. He's also an RFA which if I'm not mistaken means that other teams can talk to him freely.

Weber wasn't interested in returning to BC, but maybe Benn wants to. MG should invite him to tour the facilities, like the Rangers and Flyers did with Weber (maybe Doan?).

The only scenario I could imagine is if Gillis sells him on coming back and Benn in turn demands a trade to VAN. Joe N would then be forced to either make a trade or stick to his guns and refuse his trade request.

In response to your question on yesterdays blog thread asking: "That's quite the avatar. You make that one yourself? More of a canuck hater then a oil supporter?"

Thank you, but I can't take credit for the avatar. All I did was manipulate the size and cut out the border I found it with Now, I can't say I'm a Canucks hater so much as a Kesler-despiser. I. (frank)ing. Hate. Kesler. Or, at least, what I see of the guy, and considering where I live, I like to think I get my fair share of viewings both on and off the ice.

Please don't question my allegiance as an Oilers fan. No one has questioned your allegiance as a Canucks fan so I see no reason for you to do so to me. Personally, I prefer to assume that most of the individuals on this site have enough of a devotion to their particular team- and the game of hockey- as they take time out of their days to contribute to the conversations in these threads regularly. We all squared up now?

The #Preds WILL match Weber's offer today or tomorrow. #CONFIRMED but....there is a second possibility.

If somehow, the #Preds decide not to match...it will ONLY be because the #Flyers will be sending back Couturier AND/OR one of the Schenns.

I know, but im not talking about stars here. We have enough star power, we need quality depth. Some of those types of guys who would have fit in really well, have been there for the taking...Stan is just unwilling or unable to make it happen.

I think it'd be a huge mistake to match.

Chicago has too many stars IMO .6 of the 22 are eating up a lot of cap space. Stan needs to find soldiers now or move a star or two before getting new ones.

I think Preds should trade. He doesn't want to be there and it would cripple the franchise matching or letting him walk for 4 late first rounders.

LOL Did I say Teows isn't any good. I like Teows a lot. I wish the Nucks had him. I said the Blackhawks are sh*t. They have no depth and no goaltending.

Yeah I can't see NSH affording to pay 1 player $50m over the next 4 years and still spend on building a team around him.

Not sure what's being discussed behind the scenes, maybe a trade between the 2 teams, but I can't see NSH dishing out that sort of cash.
