My friend. Don't bother. It's like banging your head against the wall. Everything that came out (spending day attempting to trade, agent stressing Flyers are "best fit", and "things changed after Ryan left") kind of foreshadows that Nashville won't be able to match, but the lack of information over the past day and a half has kind of got everyone going back and forth. I'm pretty sure Weber is a Flyer and Nashville has it's out by saying the Flyers didn't practice in the spirit of the CBA. Just me, but I can't kill guys like MJL or anyone else because there has been so little information and they are voicing logical and respectable alternatives.

It's not a question of Nashville being able to match. They can definitely match the offer. It's a question of is it the right move for them to match. The longer it goes, the better I like the Flyers chances of getting Weber.

I concur with the longer it goes, however, in here and for discussion purposes the longer there is no information the more people flip flop haha.

My feeling is Nashville will match it. Its too big of a blow to lose Suter and Weber at the same time.

That's the kind of deal you make if you have a host of other teams driving up the asking price... that's way too much to give up just to turn a dominant position into a done deal. Yeah, you stand the chance of walking away empty-handed, but that's better than weakening the team short and long-term for potentially no reason.

I pretty much agree with everything you posted today. Your making too much sense. Lol

Here are some quotes from recent interviews on ESPN radio on 7/19:
http://973espn.com/shea-w...ia-is-a-good-fit-for-him/

Darren Dreger: ..."there was unbelievable dialogue between Homer and Poile all day (7/18 ) trying to get a trade done that would appease both sides because Shea Weber obviously doesn't want to play in Nashville anymore" -- 7/19 espn radio

Weber's agent Jarret Bouquet:

..."(the talks) have been kind of going on for a while...dating back to last summer's arbitration case Nashville filed on us..definitely things changed in Nashville on July 4th when Suter left.."

"When suter set the marketplace, we had to take a look where She wanted to live...had to take a long looks to see if that was the right fit in Nashville for the next 14 yrs or if there were other places...when there was no deal in place after July 5th, other teams sensed there was an opportunity to get Shea within the rules...there were trade talks in the past couple days with a few teams in the mix...after speaking, we just felt like Philly was a fit... when the trade couldn't happen w (Nash and philly) the OS was sent in (quickly)."

"Don't know if Nashville wants the picks or wants to keep him. "

Interviewer Question: "Shea doesn't want to be in Nashville, is that correct?" I think we thought that there's a lot better (teams?) fit for him now We're looking at, you know, he just got engaged he wants the security now...he wants to be on a consistent contender for the Stanley Cup and we need to look at working under the rules of this CBA with all the uncertainty about the upcoming expiration etc.

"Not sure philosphy in Nashville, or how deep their pockets are...or maybe they think it doesn't make business sense so it could be a philosphical thing aside from the money itself."

Interviewer Question: "In Shea's heart of hearts, with Philladelphia, was that #1? " Bouquet: -- "I think yeah,1a, 1b 1c ...it came down to Philly definitely being the best fit for Shea at this point... you don't sign an offer sheet unless you think it's the best fit...it's def where he would like to be playing.

Interviewer Question On the Shea's reaction to the contract: "Shea hasn't been motivated by money..he looked at other offers earlier, prior to July 1 (obv from Nashville), that were less and he'd consider staying for if his partner (Suter) would have stayed......he's not a greedy guy... he's not motivated by money...obviously he likes the financial security like anyone would...I think he's respectful of the Predator organization...this wasn't to emabarass anybody ...it was more working to get the best contract under the cba...but I mean he was appreciative of the (Flyers) offer and it definitely, in his eyes, was a strong comittment by the Philadelpahia Flyers saying they want to win now."

"There was no back and forth w flyers offer...we weren't trying to get more money out of them, they weren't trying to negotiate (better terms) with us..(we went on the) idea that he (Shea) was the team's (Flyers) final piece of the puzzle to get them to the next level."

For my own useless knowledge ...Homer has the upperhand with this offer.... He can say who he wants traded back if he decides to go that way. Or just give up how many picks???

I'd go 60-40, but not much more than that.

It helps that I'm OK with it either way. I'm perfectly fine if the Preds match and the Flyers add a guy like Doan, or even wait for the season. I'm also cool if they don;t match and the Flyers surrender the 4 1st or if they work out a fair trade to make it palatable for the Preds owners/GM

I still in my bones feel he stays. Doan stays out there. Ryan comes here. Even if Ryan doesn't we have a very competitive team. That's all we can hope for without disappointment
