Voracek, Meszaros, and (1) first round pick. That is more then generous under the circumstances.

I don't think you can sell Nashville unless the deal includes either Couturier or Schenn. They have to be able to tell their fans they have their future #1 center.

I think it comes to this Wednesday morning. Holmgren has to decide on including one or the other to make the deal happen.

i don't think i'd do it. not at this point. if that's what it will take, i'd probably just let them match

definitely a really tough call though

I'd do couturier. I think he's a better center but Schenn can play wing or center and we are logjammed at center.

I keep Nashville on the hook and force them to make a decision then. I wouldn't include Couturier or Schenn.

I have no doubt that if Nashville is looking to make a deal, they wait as long as possible to see if they can get Holmgren to include one of Schenn or Couturier.

Thought Kesler was 3 days

is your name in reference to the rap group? They were awesome back in the day

- aosplayo

Yes, and also a reference for going far side on a goalie.

If Nashville can't make the numbers work then it doesn't matter who they'd get. My gut tells me though that they would have traded him to one of the numerous suitors if they didn't intend to match. If they were unprepared for the magnitude of the offer sheet then shame on them.

Once the offer sheet is signed, they can't trade him to a team other then the Flyers.

My guess is you will be able to reflect on it a few more days. The pressure will build on everyone. You know Poile will got the approval from his owners to match. They will also allow him to negotiate a deal if is better for the long term interest of the team.

So, Wednesday morning Holmgrem will have to decide. I believe he makes the right decision and allows one of Couturier or Schenn to be included in the deal.

You could very well be right. And Nashville is going to wait as long as possible to see if they can get one of Schenn or Couturier, if their intent is to make a deal. But I would hold fast if I was Holmgren and bluff back. But there is certainly the risk there of losing Weber.

you wouldn't trade him for Weber? I would. As valuable as Couturier is, a top-notch blue-liner like Weber, who puts up about as many points as a Couturier, is more valuable.

I really believe that too much attention is being paid to the numbers. If you ignore the numbers there is a great hockey deal that can be made for the benefit of both teams. Nashville cannot afford to lose, they have a fragile fan base. Holmgren has to help them come out of this a winner. If he does, the Flyers took a giant step towards winning a Cup.

There is no doubt about that. And if this was a standard trade, I would agree wholeheartedly. But it isn't. It's a situation where the Flyers have Nashville on the ropes. They could go for the knockout, or allow Nashville to withdraw with some respect. So I think Nashville still has to take it on the chin a little, and not walk away with a top player in Schenn or Couturier.

You can't dismiss the numbers and make a deal as if the situation didn't exist. And it was a standard trade where both sides are looking for a fit and a fair deal. I'd be willing to give Nashville something for the good of the League and the sport.
