This is absolutely the furthest from the truth. All the teams who were trying to acquire Hamels from the Phillies have stopped their pursuit as they expect Hamels to re-sign with the Phillies in the upcoming days. |

Just was told that Nashville's circumvention hearing was denied by the NHL, and they also won't let Nashville tap into their reserves.
They're in a tough spot, and talks have resumed between the 2 clubs to see if they can workout a trade. Right now Poile still demanding Schenn/Couturier. Homer isn't going to budge there.
I also was told Doan's offer is in the 3yrs/21 mill range, so obviously some moves would follow if they both landed here. - LordStanley88

After wrapping my head around this for a couple days now, I still think Nashville is better off not matching. Lower financial risk and if they play their cards right 4 draft picks can go a long way. They can flip each one for a roster player or draft accordingly. The recipients of these multiple picks/player trades usually wind up doing pretty good longterm. Two such trades in sports that come to mind are the Herschel Walker trade in the NFL years ago and the Lindros trades. Due to that, I'd almost rather the Flyers don't do this, but considering how stacked their team is now, I feel good about shedding one or two players and a pick or just four first rounders. |

Sorry, Im flat out not interested in including Coburn or Mezzy. We'll just be looking to full their void next year when Kimmo is done. The only D man I offer them is MAB. I offer them Voracek as well. I offer them that and I call Nashvilles bluff to the very end. They can take some garbage as well if it helps them reach the cap floor. Shelly and Walker should be mandatory in any trade we make with them. - hereticpride
Would you be more interested if you could sign Shane Doan as well? I was anti-trading Jake, Mezzy, and MAB to get Nashville to match, but now? I make that trade if I felt I could land both Shea Weber and Shane Doan.

Reading the analysis of so-called financial professionals has me unconfused as to how the economy is fragged. - JoeRussomanno
Well there you go, you nailed it. If you can finance an entire government through debtor in possession financing, think about how easy it is for Nashville resolve any bridge financing caused by the structure of the Weber contract.
Heard the Nashville announcer on Ottawa radio guaranteeing that the Preds would match. I believe that is the party line and Nashville only backs down if they have something good they can sell their fans on.

Thing is goverments just go to war when the bottom falls out, Pro-sports teams move to cities where they belong. See atlanta thrashers
edit furthermore if the Preds had all this money why go to arbitration last year, why not have Weber locked up already? |

My wife says the same thing when we go to a restaurant and wait 45 mins to get a table.
Here's a joke that will help you understand accountancy.
A CEO was looking for a right hand man. So he interviews an engineered, a lawyer, and an accountant, and asks each of them one question - what is 2 + 2?
The engineer whips out his calculator and answers 4 with a statical error of .00004 to the square root of pie.
The lawyer answers, in the case of the people vs. Banner it was proven to be 4.
The accountant walks over, closes the door, and answers...what do you want it to be?
He got the job. |

he doesn't have Voracek under contract because he's trying to get weber. All he has to do is submit a qualifying offer. |

I don't think so. In fact if money wasn't an issue, Homer wouldn't have wasted his time going this route because Nashville wouldn't even be at the negotiating table. think about it, Weber signed a deal that if matched by Nashville would make him a predator for the rest of his life |

They match, and they pay $15 millions a year to he & Pekke, who else plays?
ouch
I don't think they want to match this, can't pay him $26 million in one year & then move him either. They will still stink with him, as they have he & Hal Gill?
He's also stated he wants no part of a rebuild.
Legwand has been a #1 center on that team for 4 years?
