Generally I do agree. I'm only thinking that long-term Schenn slots in as 2nd line center and Laughton would make an ideal 3rd line center 2 years out. Bridge that gap with Arnott and you could afford to give up Couturier. - TheGreat28
Assuming that Schenn comes into his that's not a bad plan. Trading Coots, for most though, is the "third rail" but it makes for interesting conversation. |

Yeah but if we have weber for that, Doan who?
Jake V could be a 60 point guy each year - puckhead17
I'm with you brother! I think we need Jake's playmaking skills more in future years. Also, the Schenns will bring a lot of physicality.
It really all depends on what they have to give up for Weber - Jake, Schenn or Coots. |

I heart Brayden Schenn after that Pittsburgh series...... Hes got a lot of Richie in him. I love that he didnt fight Crosby, I know some people didnt like that, but to me that shows maturity and putting the team first. |

At 6'4", 191 lbs, 19 years old, and with his skill set..... man is he going to be a female dog to play against when he fills out. Couturier is a keeper IMO. I hope they don't budge and deal him. - moylander
I agree. I'd love for them to be able to keep Jake and Couturier...just don't see it happening.
They'll also have to pay G and Schenn (assuming he reaches potential) in a few years. Might be like Pitts - can't afford to keep all three. |

If they are demanding certain players, then they can't match it, can't see them doing it anyway, they would still stink with Weber as he would have no support around him, and he already stated he doesn't want to be in a rebuild |

I think B Schenn is going to be a very good player in Nashville |

I agree.. but 7M would be tough to stomach. I do worry about Doan's play dropping off sharply at some point ala LeClair. But they may just have to do it if it comes down to it - eayost
I'd maybe consider 7 mil per for two years. Three is a little hard for me to digest. We may need that 7 mil in the third year to help sign G, Coots, Metz, and B. Schenn (if he's still around ) whose contracts will be up. |

I believe Bryz played better in the majority of those 20 games than he did in any month not named March. Take away the Winnipeg games, and he did start off better. Add in Luke's physical play and shot blocking along with a full season of Coburn-Grossmann, and I think Bryz plays a hell of a lot better in his 2nd Flyer season. - Rocktane
As long as L Schenn doesn't deflect a bunch of pucks past Bryz, we'll be alright |

Agreed. The 3rd year at that high on a 35+ contract is scary, on top of the dead space that having Pronger on LTIR yields. Imagine that third year if Doan just physically wears out. Yikes |

Agreed. I think the key with Schenn is to get off to a good start, get his confidence up. I think he could completely take off then. And I think having his brother here will help that. |

I would definitely be willing to include Meszaros. When Timonen is done, they have 6.3M to play with. he can be replaced. So can Coburn for that matter. Shelly and Walker are non starters. I don't know why anyone brings them up. - MJL

They are screwed whether they match or not, $15 million a year to one D man and goalie gives them very little around them, aside from the front load which hurts them double. - puckhead17
I guess it comes down to if you're Nash is would you rather be screwed with Weber on your roster or without Weber on your roster? |

One of you guys mentioned this a few minutes ago, but I couldn't find it. I wonder if the Flyers could entice Nashville with 18 million dollars and Pronger's contract. That covers the next 3 years, and the last couple of years are 525k or something like that. To Nashville that should have a LOT of value, cash flow plus cap floor management.
That's gotta be worth one of those picks. Comcast would have to bite a BIG chunk of cash outfloor between this and Weber tho. |

Its the dead roster spot it would create. You would have to keep him active to count against the cap. I would also bet the nhl vetoes that. |
