The Boston Bruins, who shockingly fell out of postseason contention on the final day of the regular season for the second season in a row, have long been away from the rink, which may have helped three of their key players who went under the knife following the conclusion of the season.

Surgeries for Matt Beleskey (left hand), David Krejci (left hip), and Torey Krug (right shoulder) were all a success, too, according to a team release on Tuesday.

Beleskey’s surgery on his left hand was performed by Dr. Matthew Leibman at Newton-Wellesley Hospital on Apr. 14, and his recovery time is expected to be just six weeks. A versatile fit on Boston’s left wing in his first year in town, Beleskey finished the year with career-highs in assists (22), points (37), and penalty minutes (65), and was eighth in the NHL in hits with 260.

Krejci’s second hip surgery (and his first since 2009), was completed by Dr. Bryan Kelly at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY on Apr. 25. His recovery time is expected to be five months.

Meanwhile, Krug’s surgery on his right shoulder was performed by Bruins Head Team Physician, Dr. Peter Asnis, at Massachusetts General Hospital on Apr. 21. His recovery time is expected to be six months.

Krug, a restricted free agent this summer, finished his third full season with the Bruins with career highs across the board, basically, with 81 games played, 40 assists, 44 points and 33 penalty minutes.
