1) On Tuesday the New Jersey Devils announced that Ryane Clowe has joined the team's coaching staff as an assistant.

Geoff Ward and Alain Nasreddine will remain on the bench alongside head coach John Hynes while Clowe will watch from above.

When word came out that Clowe's playing career was over there was a lot of talk about him helping the organization in an off-ice capacity and that's obviously what has happened here.

I don't believe Clowe will be compensated any more than he otherwise would be for his playing contract. As far as I can tell he is doing this because he wants to contribute to the team and start his new career.

It's worth noting that Clowe will remain on the team's cap. Nothing changes in that regard.

2) I have seen people talking about Michael McLeod making the big club this season and that's just not realistic. He is not NHL ready and, quite frankly, there aren't many spots available even if he were further along in his development than he actually is.

McLeod will be in Mississauga (OHL) this upcoming season and will captain a team that features a ton of quality players in Nathan Bastian (Devils), Sean Day (Rangers), Owen Tippett (projected top-10 pick in 2017) Nicolas Hague (projected top-15 pick in 2017) and potentially Alex Nylander (Sabres).

Assuming he has the big year many - myself included - think he can have we'll revisit this argument a year from now.

3) I really hope Pavel Zacha can find a way to stay healthy moving forward because I think he is NHL ready (if not, he's extremely close) and don't want his ability to compete for a spot in camp hindered because of injuries.
