New Jersey Devils: Kyle Palmieri Named To Team USA

Team USA has added another New Jersey Devil to their roster for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey.

Joining Cory Schneider, who was named to the team with the first batch of players announced, is forward Kyle Palmieri.

The 25-year-old winger replaces the injured Ryan Callahan, who probably shouldn't have made the team to begin with.

Palmieri is coming off an excellent season where he scored 30 goals and tallied 57 points in what was his first year getting consistent top-6 ice time.

Meanwhile Callahan managed just 10 goals and 28 points while failing to live up to the big contract the Tampa Bay Lightning gave him.

You could certainly make a case for a few others to fill Callahan's spot - Kyle Okposo and Tyler Johnson come to mind (Phil Kessel is injured) - but there's almost no debate that Team USA is a better team now than they were a day ago.
