Not much in the way of news but there was a nugget from Dejan Kovacevic's
latest blog that was interesting.
Dan Bylsma may not be employed by an NHL team right now, but he certainly had the opportunity to be this offseason.
You knew Bylsma had been offered the Florida job after being fired by the Penguins — turned it down because he wanted the Panthers to match what he’s making right now to do nothing — but did you know he was similarly offered by Carolina?
Bylsma is in a pretty comfy situation right now, he is being paid very good money to sit and do nothing. This gives him the ability to be picky about his next coaching opportunity.
Look for a team who fires their coach early-mid season to hire Bylsma this upcoming year. It wouldn't surprise me if that team was Toronto or *gasp* the Islanders.
I will be on vacation for the next week so you will not be getting updated Penguins news. That does not mean there won't be a blog every day, there will be.
For the next seven consecutive days I will look back at the past seven years of Hart Trophy voting. I will analyze the three finalists of each year using modern analytics and see how well the voters did.
Tomorrow the series will begin with the 2008 Hart Trophy.
If you want my takes on any potential Penguins happenings, Twitter will be the place to find those opinions for the next week.
