"We have some guys that we want to evaluate," first-year coach
Jared Bednar said. "We've got to see them play some games, see them play some games against other competition besides our own team in practice."
Here's my latest
JARED BEDNAR STORY for
NHL.com.
Bednar said the entire preseason will be used to evaluate players, and that includes the veterans.
"I think the whole camp is going to be like that," he said. "Every exhibition game is going to be like that, an evaluation. I want to see our guys play games. I want to see who earns the minutes, the positions, who is going to play what for us come the start of the regular season.
"So we're going to evaluate it all the way through, not just the first games but the final games until we get our roster in tune. They're still fighting for their ice time in my mind."
As for the veterans:
"We have to start looking at those guys, too, to see what they're going to earn and where they're going to play and who they're going to play with," Bednar said.
