This one has been making the rounds today, with people like TSN's Darren Dreger weighing in. I am a little distracted tonight with something from my "real" life, but I thought I'd drop a note about the rumor.
The rumor is Linus Omark and a 2nd round pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Cody Franson. If this rumor happens to pan out, I like the deal for both teams. Edmonton needs right-pairing defenseman. Franson might not be a physical player, but he has size and mobility. He doesn't sound too happy to be in Toronto right now, so a move could welcomed.
Omark wants out of the Oilers organization and feels he deserves a real shot in the NHL. Can't say I blame him. I am all for the Oilers using a draft pick to immediately improve, as the future could be now if they want it to be. The Leafs don't have the depth the Oilers do, so the 2nd round pick is a meaningful acquisition to the organization.
