By an overwhelming margin, the best save of 2016-17 was deemed to be Curtis McElhinney’s left pad stop on Sidney Crosby in the waning seconds of the victory over Pittsburgh.

That save clinched a playoff spot for the Toronto Maple Leafs on the final weekend of the regular season, but in my opinion it was not the best save of the year. Frederik Andersen’s stop on Zemgus Girgensons in Buffalo not only was ridiculous, it helped the Leafs starter get on track after a slow first month in Blue and White and if that had not happened, Toronto would have not made the post-season.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Leafs resurgence last season was their offensive depth and playmaking ability. Veterans Tyler Bozak, James van Riemsdyk and Nazem Kadri had career years, but rookies Mitch Marner(42) and William Nylander(39) led the club in assists, some of the spectacular variety.

Here are six great passing plays made by the Leafs this past season:

Mitch Marner with the no-look pass to Tyler Bozak vs. Florida (10/27/16)

Auston Matthews spin-o-rama pass to Leo Komarov vs. Washington (1/3/17)

Mitch Marner’s behind-the-back pass to Tyler Bozak vs. Montreal (1/7/17)

Connor Carrick with a long bomb to Mitch Marner vs. Detroit (4/1/17)

William Nylander dishes to Auston Matthews vs. Buffalo (4/3/17)

Brian Boyle setting up Kasperi Kapanen vs. Washington – Game 2 (4/15/17)

Which play was the best of the 2016-17 season??
