more to come....

Update: 10:20 PM

Toronto re-signs John Mitchell to a 1 year, $725,000 contract per Sportsnet.ca's Nick Kypreos.

ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reported that Toronto was "kicking the tires" on UFA Maxim Afinagenov. The 30 year old scored a career high 24 goals last season playing mostly on a line with fellow Russian Ilya Kovalchuk.

Afinagenov is a very skilled but very frustrating player, who holds onto the puck too much and does not venture into the scoring areas enough. Unless Toronto is getting Afinagenov for a greatly reduced price, this would be a head scratcher.
