Although I'd rather have someone eye gouge me than watch a Buffalo hockey game sometimes, there are times when you can pull individual positives out of a wreckage. With a 2-8-1 record and only 12 goals scored in 11 games, they're really hard to find on this Sabres team, but here are a few pluses.

Tyler Ennis is centering the top line, is finding space and is burying his opportunities. He has a team high four goals on 18 shots (22.2%) and has the team's only short-handed goal of the year. That head coach Ted Nolan has him out on the penalty kill shows just how much faith the coach has in him. Ennis can get 'er done when given the opportunity. He also leads all forwards with 17:47 of ice-time/game.

Center Zemgus Girgensons has two goals and one assist, not power numbers by any means, but he was the last Sabres player to fall under even in the plus/minus category when he logged a minus-2 versus the Leafs on October 28th.

Tyler Myers is another one who's holding his own in the plus/minus department. In 11 games he's also a minus-2, but has logged a team-high 24:53 per game. "Big Tex" still needs to do more offensively, though. He has zero goals and only one assist thus far.

And despite giving up over three goals per game, Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth are playing out of their minds just to keep things from getting any worse. Of all the goalies with a 3.00 or more goals against average, none have a save percentage higher than .896 (Ben Scrivens, TOR, 3.01 gaa.) Both Enroth (3.11 gaa) and Neuvirth (3.26) are .910 or better.

Stats-wise that's about it, but kudos to defenseman Josh Gorges. The former Montreal Canadien has been rock-solid in his own end. He comes in at a minus-3 so far and leads the league in blocked shots with 51.

Although there are plenty of negatives, time is tight. It's best to move on anyway.
