Panthers vs Penguins

After exploding on the scoresheet (and the fisticuffs department) Wednesday night with their 6-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes, the Florida Panthers now turn their sights to an Eastern Confrence foe in the Pittsburgh Penguins.

At 21-17-6, the Pens are sitting second to last in the Metropolitan Division — one spot above the Columbus Blue Jackets who are in dead last.

It’s been a tough go for Pittsburgh between injuries, and uncharacteristically bad play. Hard not to throw in some bad mojo to that lost when things like this happen:

But the reality is that they’re still the Penguins, and as such, have weapons.

Crosby is sitting on 48 points with (27 G, 21 A) in 44 games. That’s a 1.1 point a game. Right behind him is Jake Guentzel, who has 47 points (20 G, 27 A). Goaltender Tristan Jarry has played well. He has a 2.6 GAA, with a .912 SV%. He’s also tied for most shutouts (5) with Thatcher Demko and Connor Ingram.

So there’s guys producing for the Pens.

Those are impressive numbers above, but it’s crazy to look at Reinhart’s stats and see him at 60 points in 47 games (35 G, 25 A).

Guy is on fire..!

Despite being on the road, I like Florida’s chances for tonight. They are the superior team right now, and after erupting offensively against the Yotes, I think they’ll do the same this evening. Not to mention Bob building his confidence back up after Wednesday — as he is set to get the start.

What’s more…the physicality/fights against Arizona is a good sign that these guys are building something special in the locker room.

Look out, NHL…the Cats are on the prowl!
