You may have read this blog’s title and wondered to yourself, “Disappointed? About what? The Panthers..?”
In the spirit of modern day “journalism” and blogging, I will admit that this title was some click bait to get you here, but I promise that it’s for a fun topic…
But before we get to that, let’s talk about why you’re not disappointed with the Panthers current play.
1. They are have won 10 straight games on the road
2. In their last two games, they scored nine goals, while surrendering only two
3. We have seen these guys really come together lately. They are a true pack, playing tough
and standing up for one another
4. They are tied for first in the Atlantic Division at 74 points with the Boston Bruins, and second
overall in the league behind the Vancouver Canucks (80 pts)
5. Head coach Paul Maurice has 850 wins, putting him in 5th place all-time for head coach wins
6. This is probably the most complete team since the 1996 Cup run, and have a very realistic
chance at making some noise in the second half of the season/playoffs
7. They’re riding this current wave of awesomeness into today’s tilt against the in-state rival

When you look at the above list (which doesn’t cover all the great stuff this season), it’s hard to wonder what a Florida Panthers fan could be disappointed by right now.
Well, I’ll tell you…
What’s something that a lot of teams around the league have been doing the past couple seasons that the Panthers have not?
Heck, the Lightning just did it on Thursday!
What is “it” you ask?
Simple: releasing a new commemorative (or third) jersey.
The 2023-24 season marks the 30th season for the Panthers. Why-oh-WHY have they not done a commemorative sweater!? We have a nice center ice graphic for it, but no New Jerseys.
It’s weird…fans have been itching for a third for a long time now. If ever there was a perfect time to bust one out, wouldn’t this season — the 30th anniversary — be perfect??
And yet, nothing.
The closest we’ve gotten to something is the recently released “Los Gatos” ones. Don’t get me wrong, they’re sweet, and a lot of fun, but not a true third or anything like that.
So why didn’t the league or Panthers brass (whoever makes the call) give fans what they want in this department? I’m not sure. But I can’t be the only one disappointed/bummed out about it, right? Ehh, maybe I am.
Who knows (or cares for that matter) because there’s a big tilt against the Lightning and I don’t care what sweater our guys are wearing, just as long as they squash Tampa!
